A Florida woman has been arrested for firearms charges, after doctors examining her husband's 'headache' found a bullet.
April Moylan, already a convicted felon, fled the local hospital as physicians found the ammunition when investigating the severe head pain experienced by her husband Michael.
Mrs Moylan told reporters that she had accidentally fired the gun she kept under her pillow in response to hearing a burglar alarm in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Her previous conviction for cocaine possession prevents her from owning a firearm, while her husband, also a convicted felon, could also be subject to police charges.
However, a spokesman for the local sheriff said that arresting Mr Moylan would be "logistically not a useful thing", as the sheriff's office would have to pay his outstanding medical bills once he appeared in court.
The spokesman added: "There is no reason for the public to have to pay for this crime."
Mr Moylan admitted himself to hospital complaining of head pain and, according to the sheriff: "The nurse looked at him and said: 'It appears that you've been shot.' And he said: 'No way'," reports the Fort Pierce Tribune.
The couple allegedly gave conflicting accounts of the incident when questioned by police.
