A Chinese man's garden seems to be subverting the laws of nature, according to ananova.com.
The news website reports that Grandpa Ding found a reputedly legendary flower growing from a steel pipe in his vegetable garden.
He told the Sohu News network: "I was cleaning the pipes, then my hand touched something fluffy."
Describing the patch of tiny white flowers, he said: "The stems are slimmer than human hair, and altogether there are 38 small white flowers on top."
The 1mm-diameter flowers are said to open in the morning, before closing when the sun's rays increase in strength.
"No soil, no water," Ding added. "These flowers can bring me good luck."
Ding's garden might be the site of some magical developments, with his neighbours allegedly claiming that the new arrivals are a variety of the renowned Youtan Poluo flower, said to blossom only once every 3,000 years.
