Pakistani police have said that at least 13 people have been killed, after unknown gunmen attacked the residence of a senior government official with rocket launchers.
When the attackers established that Khyber Amiruddin, a government representative in the north-west of the country, was not at home, they embarked on a shooting spree, with ten of Mr Amiruddin's relatives and three guests killed.
This was not the first incidence of anti-government attacks in Tank, with al-Qaeda and the Taliban though to be strong nearby.
Two paramilitary soldiers were killed in an ambush on Saturday, while militants killed five security officials and injured over a dozen in skirmishes on May 16th.
Mumtaz Zareen, district police officer, said that at this stage, it would be "premature to name elements behind the attack."
Police official Sanaullah Khan confirmed that the house was also attacked with hand grenades, reports Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
