Barbeque Fair
The Actopan Barbecue Fair is expected to again prove a huge draw this summer.
The event celebrates the foundation of the Mexican town in the 16th century and takes place from July 8th to July 9th.
The celebrations climax with a famous competition to find the region's best barbecuer that attracts entrants from all over the state.
First prize goes to the barbecuer that manages to cook the most difficult as well as the tastiest meals.
Throughout the two days, rodeos, bullfighting and cockfighting take place in the town and there are the more wholesome delights of bands, dancing and fireworks to enjoy
In the lead up to the event, Actopan's streets are full with stalls selling local delicacies as well as an enormous range of barbequed meats.
The town's San Nicolás Tolentino building is home to a number of 16th-century frescoes for those looking to wash their barbecued lunch down with a spot of culture.
