Thousands of people head for refugee camps in Mozambique
Refugee camps are becoming crowded in Mozambique, with some officials concerned over a lack of food, according to reports.
Heavy rain over a number of weeks has caused flooding throughout the country, with 45 people reported to have died and 170,000 displaced.
Homes, crops and communities have become engulfed by the flood waters, with around 2,000 people heading to camps each day.
Joao Ribeiro, deputy director of Mozambique's national institute for disaster management (INGC), told Reuters: "We still have some food, but it's not enough."
Mr Ribeiro added that sanitary conditions at the sites were worsening and that there were fears over the spread of diseases, such as cholera.
The UN is working to distribute food to refugees and South Africa, as well as Europe, has pledged more funds for relief.
According to Reuters, the SAPA news agency has said that South African will send two helicopters and a mobile water purification plant to the area.
