Cyclone Favio arrives in Mozambique
A tropical cyclone has hit Mozambique, with winds close to 110 mph over the island of Bazaruto.
Cyclone Favio is expected to lay down several inches of rain over Mozambique before moving inward and dispersing.
There are concerns over flooding, especially after recent flooding led to thousands of people being displaced from their homes.
Helder Sueia, from the meteorological office, told the BBC: "It's dangerous for people. They have to close their windows, doors and they have to look for safer places and avoid being under trees."
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has advised against all travel to the Bazaruto Archipelago, with concerns over structural damage from the strong winds.
A second cyclone, called Gamede, is also threatening to make landfall during Friday, officials warned.
The tropical cyclone gathered power in the Indian Ocean before heading in a more or less straight line towards the southern half of Mozambique.
