Monkeys get feng shui treatment
Los Angeles Zoo has gone to extreme lengths to make sure three Chinese monkeys due to be loaned to them later this year feel at home when they arrive, according to reports.
As well as creating an enclosure that resembles a Chinese village, architects brought in a feng shui expert to make sure the environment had a lot of positive energy.
The three endangered golden monkeys, with characteristic blue faces, are certainly in line for a true LA experience, as feng shui is apparently quite popular with some of the city's celebrities.
Simona Mainini, the feng shui expert helping the zoo, told the Associated Press: "It's very experimental. We don't have any books on feng shui for monkeys.
"We just have to assume that Darwin is correct and that there is a connection and what is good for humans is good for monkeys."
In terms of recreating a Chinese enclosure, feng shui advice included installing a water feature and moving objects for the sake of qi.
Golden monkeys' bright blue faces contrast with their orange fur and they live in Chinese forest regions on a diet of bamboo and other vegetation.
