The glitz and glamour of the 79th Academy Awards is an unbelievable experience, even if it spent on the sidewalk trying to catch a glimpse of the red carpet stars.
Ellen Degeneres will host the awards bash this year after her Emmy award-winning run on her self-titles show.
Nominees this year include Leonardo DiCaprio for his lead role in Blood Diamond and Forest Whitaker for his acclaimed performance as Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland.
Also nominated is Will Smith for The Pursuit of Happyness, marking Smith's second Academy Award nomination after 2001's call-up for Ali.
Helen Mirren is nominated for the actress in a leading role award, with The Queen also nominated in the best picture category.
Kate Winslet has received her fifth nomination for her role in Little Children after previous nods for Iris, Titanic and Sense and Sensibility.
The red carpet will be jam-packed with superstars this year, basking in California's spring glow.
