Gunman kills 5 in shopping mall shooting
A lone gunman killed five people in a shopping centre in the US state of Utah before being shot by police, according to reports.
Police eventually cornered the man, who was killed in a shoot out after he reportedly fired random shots in a crowded shopping complex.
Three other people were critically injured and one is in a serious condition in hospital after the attack.
One witness told the BBC: "I saw the cops go in the store. I saw the shooter go down."
It is reported that the man fired 20 shots and that he appeared to be in his 20s, wearing a trench coat and possibly using a pump-action shotgun.
Police searched the mall after shooting the man in an attempt to find shoppers and store staff who had been hiding amid the chaos.
In a separate incident at least four people are reported to have died after a shooting in Philadelphia where a gunman opened fire before turning the gun on himself.
