Four killed In Haiti
The UN mission in Haiti has said that four people have died in the country following battles with local criminals.
A spokesman for the force said that a further six people were injured as a result of the clashes, which occurred when Brazilian UN peacekeepers attempted to expand their presence in the Cite Soleil area of Port-au-Prince on Wednesday, according to the BBC.
Fabio Pompetti, from the aid charity Medecins Sans Frontieres, told AFP that three women were among the injured and that one later died.
The area is believed to be a central strategic location in the UN's attempts to control armed gangs and rogue police officers in Haiti, which has seen around 8,000 UN soldiers brought in.
It is the latest in a number of deaths in Port-au-Prince since the UN forces first arrived in 2004 in a bid to return order following revolts that had forced the former president, Jean-Bertrand Aristide, out of office.
