Longest firework attempt in Mumbai
A group of people in Mumbai have attempted to set a new world record for the longest ever firework, according to reports.
The firecracker was two kilometres long and laid out over a large expanse of open ground in the north Indian city. The event was scheduled to coincide with the Diwali festival.
The drinks company United Breweries organised the event, including contacting Guinness World Records to seek advice on how to carry it out.
Ashok Capoor, regional chief operating officer of United Breweries, told the BBC: "No-one has done it before when we checked with Guinness World Records so we decided to make it really big and connect it with the festival of lights, Diwali.
"We made all the necessary arrangements and precautions as suggested by them. We had the whole event recorded on tape as well as photographed."
Diwali takes place on Saturday and is associated with light as the force of good against evil.
The firecracker took around six months to produce, but only one and a half hours to fully burn.
