Hawaii shaken by earthquake
The US state of Hawaii experienced an earthquake on Sunday (October 15th) which was felt on Big Island, Maui and Oahu.
The quake resulted in power being lost and some structural damage to properties, however, there are currently no reports of any fatalities.
Current observations point to an epicentre north-west of Hawaii's Big Island, with tremors felt in some of the smaller islands.
A spokesperson for the Hawaiian tourist board noted: "There is no widespread damage to infrastructure or buildings and what damage there is appears limited to parts of the Big Island.
"Power outages as a result of the earthquake were experienced on the Big Island, Maui and Oahu. This caused some flights to be delayed or cancelled."
Electricity was restored by nightfall and flights were scheduled to operate as normal, with the usual influx of visitors expected.
The tourist board added: "While all scheduled flights to Hawaii on Monday October 16th are expected to run as normal, we suggest that people travelling in the next 24 hours reconfirm their reservations directly with their airlines."
