Man bites panda in China
A drunken Chinese tourist jumped into a panda pen at Beijing zoo in an attempt to hug the cuddly animal.
However, the panda was less than amused by the drunkard and elected to bite the tourist's legs rather than embracing the idea of a hug.
Mr Zhang told the Beijing Morning Post that he didn't realise pandas could attack humans and was surprised by the animal's reaction.
"No one ever said they would bite people. I just wanted to touch it," he commented. The BBC reports that pictures from the hospital showed Mr Zhang's legs were heavily wrapped in blood soaked bandages.
Mr Zhang tried to bite the panda back in an effort to prevent the attack put its fur was too thick.
"I bit the panda on its back but its fur was too thick," the intoxicated tourist noted.
The six-year-old panda, named Gu Gu, is one of the star attractions at Beijing zoo and many tourists line up along its pen to take pictures.
Panda breading has been successful in recent years and more of the native creatures are beginning to appear.
