Electric Proms goes Empire
The BBC Electric Proms bill has been added to again, with the inclusion of Kasabian with support from the Guillemots.
The Leicester band will perform music from their self-titled debut and their new album Empire, with the help of a full blown orchestra.
Kasabian are tasked with performing their songs in a novel and alternative manner and this has been the criteria for every act to have signed up so far.
It is thought that the band's big hits will be rearranged to include orchestral introductions and finales, like the one seen on Empire track By My Side.
The Electric Proms will run for five nights, with Jamiroquai headlining the opening night, followed by Damon Albarn's new band The Good, The Bad and The Queen.
James Brown and The Who have also been included on the bill, with The Who showcasing a new musical.
The BBC stated: "The BBC Electric Proms are wired for the most exciting sounds of the year, from frontrunners of britpop and forefathers of punk through to definitive modern music phenomena.
"Spliced together over a series of unrepeatable performances at London's legendary Roundhouse."
More dates will be announced shortly with various top acts rumoured to have been lined up.
The Electric Proms opening night is on October 25th 2006 and runs till October 29th.
