Japanese prices gradually increasing
Japan's inflation rate is gradually increasing but not at the rate forecast, signalling that the rising prices are not something to cause immediate concern.
Prices of food, notably sushi, right up to expensive electronic products have swelled slightly in the past year.
However the yen dropped today (August 25th) after the announcement that the consumer price index (CPI) climbed only 0.2 per cent compared to the prediction of 0.5 per cent.
Japan has attempted to prevent the downslide of inflation by having a zero per cent interest policy. However this was raised recently as the CPI began to increase.
Therefore fresh food prices are set to remain low in the near term meaning that tourists can get great value for money while visiting Japan.
Sushi bars offer fantastic food for a reasonable price and currently the Japanese tourism authority is offering special discounts for visitor metro tickets.
Japan is particularly beautiful during this time of year. Although the cherry blossoms are nearing the end of their season the countryside is still spectacular and the line-up of current festivals is particularly appealing.
