Evacuations underway as volcano threatens to blow
Evacuations are taking place in Manado, Indonesia, after one of the country's most active volcanoes threatened to erupt.
Mount Karangetang has begun spewing lava and hot clouds following weeks of rumbling, triggering an evacuation operation by the region's authorities.
Around 4,000 people have been moved from villages near the volcano on the island of Siau, which has so far avoided the various natural disasters which have struck Indonesia in recent times.
Indonesian islands have suffered badly over recent months, with a powerful earthquake and a tsunami causing serious damage and loss of life, while Mount Merapi on the island of Java has seen heightened activity.
This is the second time that Mount Karangetang has erupted this month, although so far there has been no reports of casualties from this latest explosion.
