Troops arrive to restore order in East Timor
Troops from around the globe are arriving in East Timor in an effort to tackle the growing violence in the region.
Australia has deployed 1,300 soldiers in the region in an effort to quell the recent upsurge in violence, as former soldiers and police continue to clash.
Portugal, Malaysia and New Zealand are also set to send troops to the region in a bid to bring an end to the attacks which have left the region unsafe for travellers.
Local people have become increasingly concerned by the violence that has been seen, as battles between the former military men and the police forces continue to intensify.
The arrival of the new troops was sanctioned by the UN, just a year after its peacekeeping force left the region, and was welcomed by the local people of East Timor.
However, despite the presence of the new troops, locals have reported heavy gunfire in the hills near Dili, highlighting the fact that East Timor remains a dangerous place for travellers.
