Somali clashes start to quell
It has been reported that a quiet peace has broken out across the Somali capital of Mogadishu following two days of heavy fighting.
Islamic militiamen took hold of a number of key points across the city on Thursday and since then there has been a lull in the battle.
It is claimed by the local media that as many as 30 people have been killed in the clashes, which have seen gun battles and mortar attacks as the militants looked to take control of the city.
Many people have fled the city and the whole of Somalia is now unstable for travellers, as there are fears that the battle in Mogadishu could spread to other parts of the troubled country.
Despite a truce being agreed in the country just ten days ago, this latest violence could cause a renewal of arms among the various clans of Somalia, after hopes that the country could put its violent history behind it appear to be fading fast.
