Thailand begins clean-up operation
Thailand authorities are beginning to work on areas damaged by recent flash floods.
Torrential rain over a number of days in the northern parts of the country have resulted in severe flooding and it is believed that up to 100 people have been killed by the waters.
Over 1,000 soldiers have been moved into the region to begin the clean-up operation as well as to help search for the bodies of those killed in the floods.
However, Thailand's meteorological society has warned that further rain is expected and as such the country could see more flooding and landslides in the days ahead.
Suksunt Vanaputi, the vice governor of Uttaradit, which has been worst affected by the rain, added that the authorities anticipate finding more bodies when the water levels recede.
He explained: "The most significant obstacle is the mud, which is about two metres thick."
