Travellers vote for "intrepid" China
Travellers looking for the ultimate adventure holiday have chosen China as the most "intrepid" destination.
The poll, carried out by Intrepid Travel, revealed that the country is considered the most exciting when it comes to ensuring an adventure packed and culturally-challenging holiday.
The majority of respondents cited the size of China and its fascinating history as part of its attraction for adventure-seekers, as well as its range of ancient attractions.
The poll indicates that China is popular with a number of young travellers as it can be explored on any budget and offers the opportunity to take in spectacular sites as well as learning about its history and taking part in specially organised tours and expeditions.
"The growth of China's international presence as a safe, accessible destination has translated into a huge influx of travellers to the area, and bookings on our Taste of China and China Hike & Bike trips are soaring," explained Jen Bird from Intrepid.
"Intrepid's survey shows how the magic of the Middle Kingdom is still very much alive, conjuring images from towering limestone karsts to the deserts of the Silk Road."
