French protests turn violent
A new labour law planned to be introduced in France has sent over a quarter of a million people onto the country's streets to march in protest.
Concerns that the new rule would give employers too much power have caused many people to protest about change and the scenes turned ugly as protestors clashed with police.
In Paris, there has been serious violence as riot police moved in and were forced to fire rubber bullets and tear gas into the crowd, which organizers claimed to be 120,000 strong.
There was also protesting in 80 other cities around the country and France has become increasingly violent in recent months.
Last year, the country experienced a series of violent riots which began in Paris when protestors angry at a fire in a large communal building began to take the law into their own hands.
While the country is usually a safe place for tourists, the increase in violence in recent months will be a cause for concern for those considering a trip to France.
