Airport delays as storm hits San Francisco
Travellers wishing to pass through San Francisco International Airport were hit by delays yesterday as hurricane-strength winds swept through the city.
High winds hit the region at around 7pm local time causing delays of up to two hours for both arriving and departing flights.
Storm weather has now moved on and normal patterns have resumed, but at the time flights were restricted to using only one runway. This restriction along with the hazardous landing conditions were blamed for the delays.
Storms hit the region over the new year but the local weather service says that the latest weather conditions are not on the same scale as those were.
Other local airports were also affected by the severe weather but are reported to now be running as normal.
The US National Weather Service predicts that the weather should be reasonable until Thursday when another storm is expected.
