Heathrow security causing delays
Enhanced security measures being undertaken at Heathrow airport are causing many travellers to become disgruntled, it has been claimed.
According to a report in the Times, an increase in security measures at the airport has been criticised by both passengers and airlines alike.
The airport has introduced greater procedures for security at check-in, which means that passengers are now required to arrive at the airport two hours before take-off to be sure of catching the flight.
That stipulation applies even for short-haul and internal flights and is causing consternation among passengers, who feel that the early arrival time and security checks are unnecessary.
As a result, some travel agents are now advising travellers to steer clear of Heathrow altogether, so as to bypass the long waiting times at the airport.
Gary Hance, director of the business travel agency ATP International, told the Times: "I will now recommend travellers avoid Heathrow."
