Brasilia Nightlife
Unlike many of the other facilities in Brasilia, the city's restaurants and bars are not congregated together in particular zones, meaning it is possible to enjoy a decent meal and wash it down with a local beer wherever you find yourself.
Having said that, for Brasilia's most authentic restaurants, the visitor will have to travel to the residential areas, many of which can be quite some way from the city's tourist attractions. A good street to try is 405 sul, which has a fine range of eateries, from local grub to Mexican and French.
In its short existence, Brasilia has not had time to concoct any dishes that could be said to be unique to the city. Instead, most traditional eateries serve up a variety of the country's regional dishes, with plenty of meat, beans and rice on offer.
Don'Durica at SCLN 201 is a good place to go if you are in need of a substantial lunchtime feed. The decently priced all-you-can-eat buffet has a range of some 50 dishes, which take their inspiration from the south-east Minas Gerais cuisine. It opens again for the evening shift when prices are a little stepper.
Those wishing to splash out on some national and international fusion cooking should try Patu Anu in the Lago Norte zone. It has some superb, creative dishes available, including a number involving alligator.
At CLS 210, the snappily named Zuu aZdZ can be found, serving continental cuisine. The good food is matched by the impressive architecture, which is only topped by the prices.
Italian fans are also well catered for in the form of Villa Tevere on CLS 115. Prices are fair and this small establishment has built up a good reputation for excellent cuisine and a fine range of wines.
Vegetarians can feel a little lost in Brazil amid all the meat eaters and the situation is no different in the capital. However, one beacon of light is Bardana at SCLS 405, which is nicely priced with a good range of veggie options.
Brasilia is not famed for its superb nightlife but there are several places to have a go at, many of which can be found inside shopping malls ? perhaps not the best place for a romantic evening. Away from these, there are a few key venues to try in the city.
Beirute SQS 109 is one of the city's oldest bars. Open every night of the week until 02:00, it serves a good range of decently priced beers and a selection of Arabian food. It attracts a diverse range of people, although there are more students than anyone else.
Letting your hair down can be done most nights of the week at Gate's Pub in CLS 403. This establishment, which is not certain whether it is a pub or a club, puts on a variety of different nights each week, ranging from electronica to salsa.
For a unique evening of live music head to the Clube do Choro in the Setor de Divulgação Cultural. Here you will be able to enjoy the Brazilian music known as choro, which usually involves a three piece band consisting of cavaquinho (a four-stringed ukulele type affair), guitar and flute.
