If you find the same accommodation (with the same booking conditions) at a lower rate somewhere else on the internet after you have booked through us, we'll refund you the total difference. Just contact us within 24 hours of making the booking with the details of the accommodation and the other website.

Guarantee Terms and Conditions

1. As hostel prices can change daily, you must contact us promptly by email lowestpriceguarantee@hostelbookers.com , but within 24 hours of purchasing your accommodation through HostelBookers.com. Your email should include the following information: your name, HostelBookers.com reservation number and the website and name of the accommodation where the lower rate is available. Incomplete or inaccurate emails will not be taken into account.
2. The guarantee is not applicable for same day bookings.
3. The guarantee only applies in respect of a lower rate that is available for online booking. The lower online rate must be bookable when HostelBookers.com validate your claim, within the 24 hour period, screen shots will not be accepted as proof.
4. The lower rate must be found online for an equivalent room at the same hostel or budget accommodation provider as booked through HostelBookers.com on the same check-in and check-out dates including any booking related fees with the same booking conditions.
5. The lower rate must be in the same currency.
6. HostelBookers.com will only match the difference between our rate and the lower rate if your reservation through HostelBookers.com is completed and not cancelled or the subject of a no-show. Refunds will only be given after the checkout date, once this has been confirmed.
7. If the claim is unsuccessful as it is not in accordance with our lowest price guarantee terms and conditions, our terms and conditions of booking, including the cancellation policy and the non-refundable deposit are still applicable.
8. "Lowest price guarantee" does not apply to accommodation purchased through or in combination with membership rates, frequent stay, loyalty points or other "reward" type programs or special promotions of the accommodation provider where the booking is made. Lower rates available through opaque sites where the exact hotel isn't known until after booking are also excluded from the guarantee.

EyeforTravel Research: HostelBookers is Cheaper

A survey of 600 properties from 20 popular worldwide destinations, discovered HostelBookers are cheaper than their next largest competitor by an average of 4.2% – an equivalent saving of £6.75. (source: Eyefortravel pricing analysis)

The savings are higher in expensive cities like Paris and Sydney, where the average price difference is £15.87 and £11.23 respectively for two people over two nights.

Confident about offering the cheapest prices over all their 2,500 destinations and 12,000 properties, HostelBookers have now been prompted to offer a "Lowest Price Guarantee" – if a customer finds the same accommodation for less within 24 hours, they will refund the difference.

Reed Business Insight: HostelBookers still on average 5.1% cheaper

HostelBookers is on average 5.1 per cent cheaper than rival Hostelworld, according to independent research from Reed Business Insight.

RBI's study, conducted in September 2009, compared 908 hostels in 46 destinations worldwide, from London to Auckland, and highlighted that HostelBookers is cheaper in 90 per cent of cases.

In some cases HostelBookers' prices were over 50 per cent cheaper than those of Hostelworld,. A two-night stay for two people in a double en suite room at the Welcome Inn Backpackers hostel in Singapore, for example, is £112.52 cheaper with HostelBookers than Hostelworld. On average hostels in Singapore are 17 per cent cheaper with HostelBookers than Hostelworld.

Other destinations where HostelBookers offered significant savings compared to Hostelworld prices were Belgrade at 12 per cent, Bucharest at 13 per cent, Moscow at 14 per cent and Lima at 15 per cent.
