Liked: taxi arranged via the hotel to pick us up from the airport... when we arrived at the hotel after a 20+ hour journey the last thing we wanted to hear was your deluxe double room is finished! (ie all gone) what we did like to hear was that we had been upgraded for the night to a suite double but at the same price we would have paid for our old room!!! we atayed in room 801 which was abit of a trek up the stairs but worth it for the quiet!!! hot shower, free internet in the room. cpmfy beds, clean linen, breakfast included in the price... well worth it. the stay got better - we didnt have to change rooms on our second night and we still only got charged standard double price. the guys on reception booked our trip to Halong Bay and Sapa, which was wonderful but do remember to take lots of warm clothes in Sapa. We also arranged a half day stay for when we got back from SAPA (really early in the morning until noon) we got our suite room again :) on that evening when we were just hanging round waiting to go to HUE 2 of the lads who worked in the hotel insisted that we ate with them and im do glad we did. the food was simple (pork rice spinach) but it was tasty, the company fun and a really nice memory to bring home with us.We would stay at this hotel again and i would recommend.

Liked: The staff at the Royal Palace Hotel is probably the best part of the stay. They truly went above-and-beyond to make sure our stay and vacation in Hanoi went totally smoothly. This included finding a babysitter for our 2 young kids while we went to a fancy dinner, buying cartoon DVDs for our kids, arranging a private Halong Bay tour with a great driver and English-speaking guide, giving us an umbrella to use when stepping out in pouring rain, etc, etc. They were just fabulous and always had a smile on their face! The rooms are not only clean, but well-stocked with a DVD player and computer with free-internet access. Very convenient! They also provided a free fruit basket, daily water bottles and other amenities most places would not give at that price point. The location is also excellent - as it's close to the lake, theater and other attractions. Walking distance to several outstanding restaurants, including "A Nice Day" across the street and "Little Hanoi" around the corner. The breakfast in the morning is also outstanding and made to order. I would recommend this place to anyone going to Hanoi looking for a mid-range hotel. Very good value for the money !

Liked: Hanoi Royal Palace in Hanoi's old quarter was an ideal location to explore the city from. Our room was spacious with LCD TV, ensuite etc and the free breakfast, although simple, was tasty and filling. We booked tours to Halong Bay and Sapa through the guesthouse and they were really good and very reasonably priced. We left our luggage with them whilst on our overnight trips and they were safely where we left them when we got back. I can’t stress enough how friendly and helpful the staff were. They even let us use a room for a few hours after we had returned from our Sapa trip early in the morning and gave us an extra free breakfast at no extra cost. Overall I’d defiantly recommend Royal Palace Hotel to anyone because the staff really went out of their way to help.

Liked: The staff were very obliging and amenable. We received an upgrade to the Royal Suite due to there having been a mistake resulting in a double booking. The 24-hour free tea and coffee in the lobby was of good quality. The 24/7 receptionist Anha was exceptionally competent and agreeable.

Disliked: Even in the Royal Suite there were a few shoddy corners, broken cupboard handles etc.

Liked: ''the most gracious place I have ever stayed'' Fantastic boutique hotel with the little things you expect from a larger chain hotel. Right at the heart of the city so close to the shops that even my husband enjoyed shopping .The service is excellent and the owners very welcoming. They booked our Ha Long trip, our flight to Ho Chi Minch and didn't charge us until our arrival. Our room was spotlessly clean and well appointed with a relaxing decor. On top of this, the staff, managed by Anthony Hoat, Ms Hoa and Mr Huy are all very friendly and were more than willing to make our stay more enjoyable by offering travel advice, directions or just offering hospitality that makes weary travelers feel welcome and at home. We travel a lot together, and this place is at the top of the places we've stayed .We will definitely return and we would recommend it for anyone looking for memorable getaway!

Liked: Great location, friendly staffs and lovely room.s Overall had a very nice stay here. Rooms are well decorated in a clean, contemporary style. Housekeeping is very, very good (rooms were well cleaned). Front desk staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. Rooms come with computers with internet access. It's relatively new, so everything felt fresh. All in all it is a perfect hotel in the heart of the old Hanoi quarter with a perfect service. I'm sure I'll see you again. Thanks for a great stay.

Liked: Amazing hotel...most highly recommended. From the beginning of our stay to the end we were treated like family. Such unfailing hospitality we have never come across. They helped us in every way they could - they gave us maps, made restaurant reservations for us, arranged taxis, etc . There was free coffee and tea, but no drinks (alcohol or soft drinks), except than in the minibar .The room we had was not the largest but still large enough and very clean. The bed was large and comfortable and the shower (large & small shower head) were very comfortable. Free WIFI internet was available throughout the entire hotel and I had a good (4/5) connection in both the room and lobby. It is always very satisfying when you get more than what you pay for, and this is certainly the case at Royal Palace Hotel.

Liked: I went through a few reviews before I finally selected this hotel and I glad to picked this hotel. We had conversed with their staff Ms Hoa or Ms Hien as she is more affectionately known as via email. She was very accommodating and patient in answering my questions . The staff is extraordinary nice and very helpful and we had a lot of fun with the hotel staff.The rooms at the Old Center were clean and rather spacious with complementary nuts, coffee and water. The hotel was also able to help us arrange our Halong Bay cruise and Sapa package as well so we didn't have to source it out from a third party, made it really convenient. The hotel also provides a free one way transfer from the airport as their advertising on website. There are really lots of hotels in Hanoi but for us the service really stood out. We would definately choose to come back...

Liked: We had chosen this hotel for 1 night and extra 2 more nights, the room is very clean and the staff is very kind & helpful . When we came inside of hotel , they served me a lime juice as a welcome drink , after that the staff gave me a map of the city and start explaining how to get to every place that commonly visited by the tourist. Indeed, this small hotel is located in the heart of Hanoi, in particular, a small side street pretty quiet. The room was well equipped with air conditioning, flat screen tv, good wifi, kettle, hairdryer and fridge . Bathroom very adequate and had good pressure and hot water. Nothing to say, no reason to complain ! The hotel has an elevator and a small area for breakfast, back sides of the desk in the lobby. For breakfast , you can choose between different options, your choice is served with an honest smile. They organised my trip to Sapa, Halong Bay, Ninh Binh, ongoing train and bus journey down South plus accommodation at my next stop in Hue, and everything had well done. We loved our stay there.

Liked: I stayed at Royal Palace Hotel for a few nights in Hanoi, during which I also booked a tour package with them to Sapa and Harlong Bay (the tour went well; both destinations were interesting; Ms Hoa made sure that I got a single room for both packages). Anyway, I was looked after by Ms Hoa and Mr Huy during my stay there, and they are quite lovely people, nice to chat with. I'm a bit of a fussy sleeper also, and they are probably the best beds that I've slept on during my whole trip. As mentioned by other travellers in Hostelbookers, the rooms are clean and tidy. I'd come back to stay there.

Liked: Great staff, included breakfast in price of room and room service at no extra cost! We were in a delux room and were super chuffed to find when they said our room would have the internet, it was not wifi they meant but a PC to ourselves with a fast connection. The location was spot on given that we only had two days, being in the heart of the old quarter meant we were within walking distance to everything including a fab restaurant that was recommended in the lonely planet too

Liked: Staff are absolutely lovely. Rooms are big and clean. Felt very welcome at all times. Breakfast selection was huge.

Liked: Location is good, right near the main strip that takes you to the lake. The staff are all very friendly & helpful. & the tour they oranised for Halong bay was very good & reasonably priced for what we got. The ceiling lights in the hotel rooms were also very impressive....when you see them you will know what i am talking about.

Disliked: If you book through hostelbookers & it says free airport pick up, that is if you book directly through the hotel (Not hostel bookers) & also if stay is longer than 3 days..... Regardless, I did organise an airport pickup through the hotel & no one showed......

Liked: The service at Royal Palace Hotel was fabulous! We based ourselves here and travelled to Sapa and Halong Bay. We spent 2 weeks in Nth Vietnam, leaving our big luggage at the hotel and taking 2-3 day tours. Our room was fine - big TV, nice bathroom, comfy bed. The location of the hotel was great - in the Old Quater, few step from the lake. The best thing about the hotel was the staff. They were all exceptionally dedicated to provide the best possible experience for travellers. Their motto is "your home away from home" and it certainly was that!

Liked: This is a great hotel, really good value for money and right in the heart of the city. They organised tickets for a two day one night trip to Halong Bay which were cheaper than some travel agents, So we trusted them to not rip us off. The staff there go out of their way to help you in anything you want to do, will organise travel tickets, but always seem to go that extra mile with their helpfulness. They speak good English, which is a bonus in Vietnam as language can sometimes be a problem. They are always smiling and seemed to appreciate my singing when I came down for breakfast. I would highly recommend thís hotel, its clean, has everything you would want, en suite, plenty of hot water, cable TV, Air con. and great value for money. What makes it specail is the staff that really do go out of their way to help. Without doubt the best hotel we have stayed in since coming to Vietnam.

Liked: The Hotel is near the old district, but it's not on the main street, so it's quiet. The Bed is very comfortable. The breakfast is very good (except the fresh orange juice is missing).

Disliked: I was told that there are no more shower gel available when I asked for another small bottle. WHAT??? There were two of us in the room and we like to shower before going out, before dinner, before going to bed. No more shower gel? Come on, they called themselves a boutique hotel. The shower gel is not even a branded one.

Liked: The rooms were clean, and it had heaps of niceties to it. The male staff were fantastic! Very helpful! Took care of us, and made sure we were all good. The included breakfasts were ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! Correspondence with the hotel was great, which I used to book a taxi airport pick-up, and booked tours through the hotel which they said that they would give a 10% discount because we booked it through the hotel.

Disliked: When it came to checking-out, we were being served by a girl/woman which tried to add drinks that we didn't drink from the mini-bar, she also over-charged us on the taxi airport pick-up which we had to argue over. And then she overcharged us on the tours that we booked through the hotel, and she said that the 10% discount was actually just the 10% tax that they wouldn't charge us. I felt totally ripped-off, as the correspondence that I had before arriving to the hotel gave me the impression that it was off the price, and it had no mention of there being a 10% tax on top of the tour packages.
