Liked: Short version: not a great place to meet or socialize, but an amazing value for the money if you're looking for a place to crash and store your stuff, or for spending some down time resting. I would and already have recommended it.A very good value for the money. I booked a 4-man dorm room and got a private with a window, fridge, sink, space heater, and TV instead. There wasn't a private bathroom; however, there was a shared bathroom by about 4 rooms or so on our floor. Noise was so-so since the door to the hall was very poor as a sound barrier and was located near the main stairway; wall/ceiling noise was not noticed at all, though. The room and furniture was much better than expected, although lacking a trash bin for some reason. Towels (standard hotel quality), soap, shampoo, and cups were provided. Cleanliness was great, and I noticed no visible issues, bedbugs, or pests of any kind. The shared bathroom was likewise clean, as was the toilet and shared shower. Wifi was provided, although it was a bit slow during a non-peak time, about 0.5/0.5mbps down/upload at speedtest; there were no interruptions or slow downs that I noticed, though. Security with a private room, bolt lock, and card-locked doors was not an issue, and the front door was also card locked, although not watched. The area is not the nicest, and the homeless/block rate was a lot higher than I would like, but even walking around about 10PM I didn't feel terribly unsafe, although the front area was not well lit. After-hours check-in was easy, and check-out equally easy. I had minimal customer service interactions, but they were positive. Another traveler complained about the cable being out, but I did not notice any problems. I only stayed one night after hours, so I'm not sure how the social aspects were, but there didn't appear to be any communal areas or activities.

Liked: although we didn't get what we booked it was fantastic location is great it feels like a 3 star hotel rather than a hostel only gripe was our room smelt of stale smoke but you got used to it I would definately recommend this hostel to anyone looking at going to san fran you ain't gunna get better value for money in this city :)

Liked: Clean, nice staff, in walking distance to the city. Only the check-in was a little confusing. I didn't know I had to check-in at another hotel. Should be written down somewhere
