Liked: Close to the subway line. Cheap place to stay considering how expensive accommodation is in NYC.

Disliked: There was a pipe going through the room we stayed in which made a racket from time to time in the night. Also, was charged $60 more than what was shown in the Hostelbookers mail which was a bit of a nasty surprise. The lady at the reception said it was the tax and that they've requested Hostelbookers to include/mention this addidtional charge.

Liked: HOT SHOWER

Disliked: WAY TO EXPENSIVE BUT I GUESS THAT IS NEW YORK ANYWAY THE SALES TAX COULD BE INCLUDED IN THE HOSTELBOOKERS PRICE SO THAT YOU DON´T GET A SHOCK WHEN YOU SUDDENLY HAVE TO PAY 19% MORE. I KNOW ITS NORMAL IN THE US BUT IT IS STILL A SHOCK WHEN YOU ARE ON A BUDGET!!! ANYWAY THE PLACE WAS QUITE OKAY BUT FOR THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU EXPECTED A LOT MORE!

Liked: Location. Showers were hot and towels were changed daily.

Disliked: Rooms were dirty, and the carpet was stained and also very dirty, almost to the point of not walking on it without shoes. The heating system came on several times in the night and made a loud whistling noise while it was on, followed by a constant driping, onto a wet patch of carpet below, both of which are loud enough to wake you up and keep you awake. There were also exposed wiring in the cupboard, the blinds were broken and the room door did not close properly, letting light in from the hall.

Liked: The location was great, very close to a subway. It was cheap, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and it was cleaned often. I felt very safe walking to and from the subway to the hotel and felt very safe when inside. It was very basic like a college dorm room, but it served its purpose of being a base for me while i explored the city.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Pleasantly surprised, we had a private double room which was like a mini hotel room, with TV, fridge, a private bathroom, and even towels. Nice for that price. It was perfectly clean.

Disliked: Nothing I can tell.

Liked: Good value for money. The room was comfortable, the wash facilities and bedrooms were cleaned every day, and the shower was warm. The staff were helpful. Good location.

Disliked: My room was very basic, and didn't look as smart as the one in the photographs. However, this did not bother me.

Liked: This was perfect location to easily getting on the 1 train to get to Times square, Penn station, ferries for the statue of liberty as well as many transfer options! And central park was just a few blocks away. Amazing eateries surrounding this location as well! The staff was also VERY helpful!

Disliked: Bed was a bit difficult to get used to but hey it's what we had expected and worked out well regardless!

Liked: Great price in a great location. Lots of space to put clothes in drawers and a convenient night table with drawers. Lots of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Great having a refrigerator in the room and a microwave just down the hall. Close to three grocery stores and endless restaurants and shops. Convenient to the 1 train.

Disliked: The walls are thin so I heard my neighbors' conversations. The lock on the door seems flimsy. I was hesitant to leave anything of any value in the room and walked the streets of NY with my Kindle, laptop, camera, iPod, passports....you get the idea. No lamp on the night table...overhead light only and the switch is not near the bed. The elevator is so slow you could grow old and die waiting for it. I just used the stairs but not coming and going at check in and check out. WiFi in lobby only and there's only one tiny table with only one chair.

Liked: Neat and clean as well as comfortable bed. 15 minutes away from Time Square. Very convenient location with many small shops around.

Liked: Great location, near subway, supermarket, bars, banks etc. Room was a good size, had comfy beds, a tv and fridge. Had a good shower and great a/c.

Disliked: Not really a hostel, more a hotel but it didnt really matter because the room made up for it.

Liked: Close to subway

Disliked: It wasn't clean. The handle for the little window in the bathroom was broke so the window was open. Additionally, I found an old razor, hair grip and a lot of dust.

Liked: Nicely located by subway stop for access to downtown etc. Stayed in a private room which was very well kept/cleaned.

Disliked: Security is questionable: the door to our room was not too solid and (as a member of staff demonstrated when we were locked out) could be jimmied open very easily.

Liked: Friendly owner, good location, small but clean rooms.

Disliked: Nothing, it just did not have the atmosphere as a youth hostel, but sincs it is not a youth hostel I would not say it is a disadvantage!

Liked: 3 Blocks away from the subway.

Disliked: Its all shared washroom. The linens smell very strongly of bleech. The maids dont do their job very well, the washrooms were often flooded and out of toilet paper. There is only one key per room despite the number of guests. Their is no control mechanism on the door so every time someone goes in their room the doors SLAM really loudly and this happens A LOT, especially in the morning when everyone is getting ready. As a result their is no sleeping in past seven. The lugage room is accessable to anyone who asks for the key and are permitted entry unattended. The building smells kind of dank and damp. Only two washrooms per floor of at least 15 rooms. Overal, if your trying to travel cheaply and your willing to rough it a bit It's not all that bad, I've seen far worse then this hotel.

Liked: Very clean, comfortable and reasonable. Staff are helpful and good room service. The neighborhood are very safe and convenience with groceries, drugstores, markets and subway.

Disliked: The hostel is not so central, but is very ckose to subway station.

Liked: Good location, friendly staff. Pretty nice neighborhood, right near the subway line at 110th Street.

Disliked: The front counter did not have any change, and so were unprepared to collect my bill. I had to pay the last 3 dollars the next day, but at least they were flexible about it. Also, the taxes added to the bill should be listed here on Hostelbookers, but are not. Or the percentage is, but the extra fees (about 18 dollars in my case) should be more clearly stated.

Liked: The bedroom was quite large and the beds were good. There was one nice man who worked at the front desk.

Disliked: There was only 2 bathrooms/showers on each floor, one of which was contastly flooded with water and rather disgusting. One of the ladies who checked us in was quite rude and not helpful at all.
