Liked: Good location.

Disliked: The wi-fi internet didnt work, the beds made a lot of noise and you need pay until for leave yours baggages at the lugagge room. They didnt have lookers and 24h reception in one of the two buildings. The price was too high for this hostel.

Liked: It was fairly quiet and I slept reasonably well

Disliked: There was no atmosphere, no place to interact with other travelers, the lounge area was pathetic

Liked: the location is great, and the staff was really helpfull

Disliked: the price was not announced with taxes. And they charged me 2 dollars for leave my luggage for 1 hour after check out (still before 11 am).

Liked: Newly renovated . Very clean. .Very comfortable beds . Lots of space between bunk beds . Two bathrooms shared by 2 suites of 4 bunk beds . Very convenient location near Penn Station 34th St. Helpful staff . Wi-fi provided . Coffee tea available in a.m. Front desk held valuables for free . Only $2 to rent a towel . Outdoor courtyard for warm weather.

Disliked: Very little communal space for eating , using laptap or socializing .

Liked: The rooms are quite large. Location is good.

Disliked: There are no lockers in the room. I had to sleep on my laptop to protect it. We shared the same room 12 people. There was only one bathroom. Staff was super rude. It is too expensive for what it deserves.

Liked: the staff is helpful

Disliked: first night we had to freeze in our room and after a room change we boiled. under the windows there is only a plastic cover next to ac which definately is a nobrainer during the winter. eight ave is right next to the hostel and therefore the traffic will definately wake you up in the morning. earplugs are a necessity in this hostel. i would definately avoid this hostel if New York would be my only stop and put some extra money on accomondation and get a better room for relaxation. for a backpacker or a budget traveller chelsea is great value. NYC isnt cheap and subway is just a few blocks away so if youre planning to party and spend a minimum time in your room, chelsea is just fine.

Liked: 1. Staff friendly and helpful 2. Air con works wonderfully. 3. Clean linen and room, though the domitory room was very basic

Disliked: 1. Not a pleasing or welcoming street frontage. Flag of place hanging on 8th Ave, pointed towards wrong end of 30th St. 2. Should get all electric sockets in every wall working. Only had two socket to share among the four bunks room. 3. Could provide wardrobe or lockable trunks for the domitory rooms.

Liked: Billiant location, close to everything. Friendly staff that provide you with a map of places you are wanting to go in NY. **if you want a nice place for b/fast i would definately recommend BROOKLYN BAGEL, u turn rite onto 8th av walk past the macd's it on the opposite side of the road. Tis amazin n cheap!**

Disliked: they made me change rooms after one night, said there was a mix up. Instead of bein in a room wiv one other person i was put in a room of 4. Only tea and coffee 4 b/fast no food. I am travellin on my own and hoping to meet people. Altho this place is really good and i would def stay agen its not so good if you are hoping to meet people as there is no atmosphere.

Liked: beds were comfortable and great location

Disliked: I WAS CHARGED $150 EXTRA than the amount listed on my confirmation email !!! If I had known this earlier I would have stayed somewhere else as they were nicer places for that price. It is corrupt that this extra charge is not told until you arrive in the city and can not find a replacement hotel at the price you were expecting at the last minute I WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN, and would suggest to pay for another hotel IN FULL rather than here. My sister disliked this place so much she almost cried.

Liked: Great location! it's close to where the busses arive and only a couple of minutes walk to the times square. food, bars and the metro are just around the corner. I stayed in a 4 bed room and we had our own bathroom. There's a very nice terrace.

Disliked: The free coffee in the morning is not worth beeing called coffee - it's brown water. There's a weird smell in the hallway. luckiy it wasn't in the room. No towles or hairdryer. The room was very light, specially in the morning. Seems nice, but at 6 am you wish there was a curtain!
