Liked: The rooms were very clean and modern, the staff were helpful and took time to help you in all ways possible. The cafe below the hostel is great, there is a library and sitting area. Met many other solo travelers, all guests were kind and helpful.

Disliked: The wifi disconnects often, it is strong at night when no one is online, but disconnects every minute Roos during the day. Mixed dorm only has one toilet/shower in the same cubicle, can be annoying in the morning when 10 people share the same one.

Liked: The overall design of the hotel is quirky and fun, with a fantstic coffee bar, library area and a big lounge. Frint desk staff were extremely helpful, allowing my to use my phone card on the front desk phones, helping with free lugage storgae on teh last day and arranging my airport transer.

Disliked: Sheets are just thin foamy blankets that are ok in summer but I imagine it would be very chilly in winter. There was one toilet and shower room in a room for eight,m meaning there were sometimes queues, and given that it was only cleaned once a day it did get dirty at times.

Liked: central location.

Disliked: the bathroom was dirty, there were no sheets in the bed and the mattress was too old. there was no breakfast served and no kitchen to prepare it. the price is too high for what this hotel is.

Liked: The cafe connected to the hostel was nice, and the exterior decoration on the building was quirky.

Disliked: Some of the late night staff were weird and poorly trained, the bunk beds were of poor quality, the blankets stuck together and there was a cockroach in my room.

Liked: The best thing about the place was the friendliness of the staff, they are allways ready to help when you need.

Disliked: The only think that it's not so good is that the bedroom is a little bit cold.

Liked: It's a great looking place, full of art and very good taste in the decoration.

Disliked: I don't know if the heating was broken or what, but my room was freezing, and when I complained with the staff, they didn't seem to care...

Liked: The location was great, staff were helpful and the lobby and hallways were beautiful

Disliked: It was freezing in the middle of winter. The blankets provided were not thick enough to keep warm.

Liked: It was a very good location, great for students. The building itself had a somewhat strange surrealist tinge to it, but it made it rather interesting. Staff were helpful and available. Next to the Subway. Daily housekeeping. Comfortable, and felt safe with friendly room mates. Also kind of liked that I was one of the few Americans there.

Disliked: Beds were very basic, not all outlets worked, so had to take turns with roommates. Had to bring own toiletries. Towels and sheets only available upon request.

Liked: The location. I walked to most places: Chelsea, Meatpacking district, Greenwich, East Village etc. The hotel is stunning lots of red velvet and black and white images and art on the walls. Good value. Staff were great, very helpful and professional.

Disliked: This place seems to attract people that arent accustomed to dormitory style accom. Had a lot of rude, annoying roomates over a three night stay. I.e checking in at midnight, turning on lights and talking while others were sleeping. But perhaps this was just coincidence.

Liked: The outside of the building is bright red and there are white things that stick out which help you to spot it on the road. The foyer inside and the hallways are nicely decorated.

Disliked: For those in dorms there were no lockers. The dorm room we stayed in was freezing and you only had one blanket. On the second night we turned the radiator on and it was as if someone was hitting it with a spanner all night - it was clanging that loudly. Also, we weren't warned that we were in a mixed room.

Liked: It doesn't look like a typical hostel because it is a hotel as well. Lovely staff and good coffee and teas in the cafe. Plus, my dorm room was big and clean and had a nice sized bathroom. I'd definitely stay here again!

Disliked: $6 to hire a towel if you forget yours! Typical in NY though probably. Nor would they hire out a blow dryer to dorm guests...only to hotel guests. Also, they didn't have my reservation when I showed up even though I had reserved it months before. It only took them about 15 minutes (I guess they had to get into their hostelbookers account to check??) and they found it. :)

Liked: Location! Lobby is also cosy and nice. And it is not noisy at all considering it is a hostel and it's on a busy location.

Disliked: The air in the rooms - not fresh at any time.

Liked: A-location in Manhattan, helpful staff and very clean.

Disliked: No safety boxes in room itself and bad airconditioning.

Liked: The atmosphere and the cleanliness. Loved the outside design!

Disliked: I would have liked to have somewhere to keep my luggage during my stay, not just before I checked in and after I checked out. (for those in the "hostel" accommodations)

Liked: Excellent location, a 15 min walk gets to Time Sqaure, 5 mins to the Flatiron building, 5 mins to different subways to different places. Good atmosphere.

Disliked: Not really a negative, but you have to validate your room keys every day for security reasons. There aren't really any common rooms for eating in either.

Liked: Great location, well air conditioned, comfortable.

Disliked: Most pathetic key system I have ever encountered in my life. You have to recharge your key every day and if you keep it in either a wallet or your pocket they run out of magnetism...so where do you keep it? Not really a hostel, more of a hotel with shared rooms.
