Liked: Friendly and talented owner. It was nice to have a in=depth conversation with him at night. Excellent location, right at the centre of the old town of Safranbolu. It's an unforgettable memory to stay a night in a hostel that has 300 years old!

Disliked: Pretty cold in the room at night. They should renovate the outer wall a little bit more so wind wouldn't sneak it during winter.

Liked: The owner is a very clever atisan. The place is beautiful!

Disliked: Despite the website saying we could get a free pick-up from the bus station the ride was unavailable and no-one on the phone spoke English.

Liked: Our room was amazing. So much character! It was pretty spacious too. The bathroom is in a cupboard - literally! It's part of the old style of the room - very unique. The location is great, right in the old town. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good breakfast.

Disliked: As far as we could tell there was no wifi.

Liked: The owner, the lady ( I forgot her name ) is the highlight of this place. She's like a guardian angel, so funny and made our stay so enjoyable. Of course apart from that.... the authentic house with the authentic room.. the ottoman style easily become the best room we've ever stayed in Turkey. Beautiful breakfast.

Disliked: Since our hostel is near the mosque, so you can understand our morning with the prayer call :-)

Disliked: We are four backpackers who booked for a 4-bed dorm room in this hostel 3 weeks before the trip. Upon arrival the hostel owner was very nice to offer us with breakfast, but soon told us the room originally reserved for us was given to another tour group of 7, who only made the request 3 days beforehand. We had no problem at first but he then said we 4 have to stay in two twin bed rooms. We were then asked to pay the balance before seeing the room condition. After the room was ready, it was found the room was only of a size of a bunker bed that one could hardly even sit upright, and we have to share bathroom, which was totally different from what we booked and expected. There were two vacant big rooms out of all 7 rooms, and we asked if it is possible to change, but he said the rooms were booked. However, the rooms were still vacant and no guests were seen coming as of 2030 hrs at night. So why were their rooms reserved but not ours? We decided not to stay and demanded a refund, but got the reply "do you know what is dormitory? It means not comfortable." and the owner refused to refund. When we asked what did our deposit secured us with, he did not respond. Finally he did a calculation showing the other group paid more than us so he gave them the nice rooms despite our advance booking. This business practise is problematic and we advice you to make careful consideration before you make bookings with Bostancu.

Liked: Beautifully restored Ottoman mansion. Excellent location, right in the center of the old town. We got probably the best (triple) en suite room in the house, that looked liked we entered in a history (I think the room no. was 101).

Disliked: The shower faucet was useless, you couldn't get the right temperature of the water. We had to remove the upper part so we can take a proper shower.

Liked: Living in an Ottoman-style house was quite interesting. Especially you can use wi-fi here, though the connection was broken continously, it was like the tradition and the technology were in concordance. I especially love the "mommy" here, a great woman with beautiful smile. She helped to prevent my clothes from being soaked in a sudden heavy rain when I was outside. When I got back, I found my clothes were hang up under the roof, hard to discribe how apprecitive I was! I hope I could stay here longer.

Disliked: Maybe can prepare some toilet paper for tourists who are not used to wash buttoms after the "call of nature." But it's not a big deal when thinking of staying in such a beautiful place.

Liked: musicians who played traditional turkish instrument and violin! i don't think it is common cases, but i was lucky to see their play. i mean ... it was nice place to meet people.

Liked: Staying at a 300-year old Ottoman house was a great idea, and this offered a way to do it at a relatively reasonable price. There was a free pick-up/drop-off from the otogar and it was easy to walk around the rest of the old town. We had a standard Turkish breakfast (served hard boiled egg, tomato, cucumber) with an omelet on the second breakfast. The breakfast, was never served before 0830, even later, despite telling us it was available at 0800. The owners were superficially friendly but not helpful and selectively chose not to know English. I would still stay here, just don't rely on the owners for much help.

Liked: I enjoyed staying in the 300-year-old renovated Ottoman house. After I went a few doors down to the house on display, I knew how authentic it really was. The double room was large. We had difficulties flushing the toilet properly. The breakfast was standard, nothing to write home about. We had dinner one night (10TL) where we basically had the same dinner as the pension owner's family. I wouldn't say the food was that incredible but it was ok. The owners seemed to possess limited English, at least when it was convenient not to understand us. It was a headache to try to figure out how to rent a car. We were driven to/from the otogar, which was great.

Liked: People in hostel were so friendly and kind.They invuted me to come Hamami Turkish bath and could have some special experience there.It has histrical atmosphere as architecture and really close locaqtin to every sites in town.

Liked: It is a very beautiful house and a great location in town. The house is beautifully restored, like a museum, and it feels it is a great privilege to stay in such a place. Our host was most helpful, too. Thank you! We had a great stay!

Liked: A nice place to stay but dont stay in room 107, it's more like a broom closet and the attached bathroom as it says on the website is actually not attached in the room. The shower is also over a squater toilet.

Liked: Nice location, nice old building. Difficult to shower (small room with no hooks to hang things and directly over the toilet) but otherwise a fine place with comfortable beds. I would stay there again.
