Liked: Cheap

Disliked: Next to a sewage pond not Beach like they lead you to beleve. wouldnt give me a extra blanket and laughed at me. room in the basement could hear all sink and toilet use in the whole building go through pipes in our room

Liked: great pool nice atmosphere

Disliked: we had the worst room holes in walls no mossie nets or glass/mesh on windows got eaten by bugs! and expensive!

Liked: It was quiet at night. The thai receptionist and english lady at reception were friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The young male receptionist was unhelpful and completely disinterested in helping customers. When we asked for anything he would respond without making eye contact. After watching us struggle with our bags up their rediculously steep steps, two thai employees kindly helped us with our bags upon which he remarked "eh you might want to tip the guys"-We had every intention of tipping them, but I do not like being told to tip. The hill is very annoying to have to climb everytime you want to go anywhere. There is the advantage of quiet at night though. The room was too hot, the fan not effective enough.

Liked: It's a great place to meet people. It's location is good as it is out of town so away from the noise but is a bit of a walk. The pool is good and the staff were helpful and friendly.

Disliked: Due to location it is a bit of a walk up a hill but it's necessary if you want to avoid noise etc. There were lots of Mosquitos in the area. Also some of the rooms needed a lick of paint or a good clean.

Disliked: The borders of bungalows are so fin what you can hear every word of your neigbours. Its really noisy.anyway for those who look for the big party this place is the right one.

Liked: There was absolutely nothing to like about this place!!

Disliked: From stepping off the boat we absolutely loved Phi Phi, it is by far one of the best islands in Thailand. However, our experience was almost ruined by staying at Golden Hill Bungalows! We were kindly greeted at the pier by someone from the hotel who helped with our bags which was definitely needed as the trip to get to the bungalows is quite a distance. After climbing the seemingly never ending set of steps, we arrived at reception which was filthy and swarming with mosquitoes. We then had to climb even more, steep steps to get to our bungalow and were disgusted as soon as we entered the room. This is by far the worst place me and my friend have ever stayed and having been backpacking for a while, we have stayed in any places. The smell inside the tiny rooms was overpowering and it was stiflingly hot as the fan was a prehistoric machine. The worst was to come when both my friend and I woke up in the morning and was head to toe covered in bedbug bites! They were painful and itchy and meant we hadto stay infor 2 days as the heat made them worse. Needless to say we quickly checked out and found another much nicer place on the island which was slightly cheaper. Under no circumstances would I recommend to stay at Golden Hill Bungalows...... I would rather sleep on the beach than stay here!!

Liked: Very friendly and helpful staff

Disliked: No hot water, murderous swarms of mosquitos (counted 37 bites after spending 5 minutes in the lobby), a bit remote, ugly surroundings

Liked: it was cheap (but not cheaper than other better guest houses)

Disliked: the free wireless is only in reception, that means YOU CANT USE IT IF IT RAINS, because it's like on an opened balcony. rooms were clean but the whole area was filthy, it's a costruction site so there is dust everywhere and the builders start to make noise from 7 am! plus it is built on an a little dam, so at night that means 200000 million mosquitos!

Liked: The hostel is a bit out of town, and because Koh Phi Phi is quite loud at night, this is a good thing.

Disliked: The beds are very hard, and it is a little bit of a walk to get to.

Liked: you got clean towels on arrival. The owner was quite friendly!

Disliked: The wifi is only available in the reception area, I would have liked it in the room. The owner doesn't seem to know much about the island which is a bit of a disappointment but you can work it out for yourselves.

Liked: Tv in room was good- distracts you a little from the rest of the property. The bed was comfortable & aircon worked well.

Disliked: They had no record of our booking when we arrived so we ended up having to barter for the room (& paid more than our booking was for), bathroom was a breeding ground for Mosquitos with flywire coming of windows, Sparse room, walls were so thin we could hear our neighbor coughing... ALL night... I understand the benefit of being 'away from the party noise' but this place was too far out, and right next to a big ugly dam filed with frogs that made more noise than any of the bars we went to!

Liked: It is pretty much at the end of town, so it's nice and quiet at night. Dorms small (ours was a 4 bed). Big bathroom en suite.

Disliked: It's on a building site - literally. There are construction works going on all around the property. There is NO air con - complete lies on the website! Security is appalling. There are no locks on the dorm doors. You aren't given a key. So basically anyone could walk into your dorm at any time. There is a communal area but it doesn't seem to be used. No 'atmosphere'. If you are a solo traveller I don't think you'd meet any people to hang out with here.

Liked: Obviously the price was one of the best things about the place. But you definitely have a trade-off with the location - it's about a 10min walk down to the shops/ town area and the beach. I guess it's not such a big deal if you only have to do it once a day.

Disliked: Mostly just the location and the staff.

Liked: Sparking clean bathrooms, helpful staff.

Disliked: Sooooooo far. The hostel is just on the outside of the tourist village, but all the way uphill and past this sketchy abandoned construction site. No computers, and front area (including drinks) completely shut down in evenings, leaving no real hangout space.

Liked: It is a 10 minute walk from the main area so it gave us some much needed peace and quiet.

Disliked: There were a few mosquito's around due to being next to the reservior but it was not unbearable. The bungalow we were given did have a slightly funny smell to it and hot water is non existant.

Liked: tis the only place we hv a private bathroom during our travelling. love the bungalows and the view cos we had mountain view in island. the location far from the crowd so its a gud place to relax. and the location not so far from the view point

Disliked: the location quite far from the port. No staff waiting in the port to lead us and no sign board so we hv to asking many times to find the place who located in the corner of the island.
