Liked: It is very close to the beach. Restaurant and bar is reasonably priced.

Disliked: the staff were not very welcoming. Our bungalow was up a hill and then about 4 flights of stairs which was nearly impossible to climb with our rucksacks on. there are a lot of bugs which is expected but our bungalow had holes in our ceiling so lizards kept coming and going throughout the day and night. We stayed for 3 nights and saw about 10 lizards. the hostel was quite far away from the full moon party but it cost us 200bht each to get there and then the same on the way back.

Liked: The staff and the family working at the village were very friendly. It’s a really relaxed place to come and chill out in true reggae style. If you are going to the full moon party it’s a great antidote to the madness of Haad Rin which I didn’t rate at all as it’s more like a tacky Mediterranean resort. The beach at Haad Salad is clean has a coral reef just off shore and the whole area is much more low key. You can hire a bike and travel to other parts of the island and a taxi service (AKA Kelly) will take you to the Full Moon party and collect you carcass in the morning so if you are not into 24/7 partying but still want to have some fun at the FMP this is definitely is the place to come.

Disliked: The bungalows are a bit dated and in need of a makeover and some TLC to bring them up to date. In saying that though if you can look beyond the decor of the place you won’t find much wrong at all. I ended up staying about 10 days just kicking back for about the same cost as a dorm room in Haad Rin. Not a hard decision really!

Liked: Good lounge area and cheap offers at happy hour

Disliked: Rooms were not clean at all. First 2 rooms we were shown had massive ant infestations and the owners did not seem bothered by this until we pointed them out. Third room had mouse droppings. Owner is more interested in making money than being useful. As soon as you were buying something should we be immediately available but if there were any problems they were difficult to solve
