Liked: Old, cool, green place with spacious rooms. Friendly staff who try hard with the (very) little english they have.

Disliked: Very little to dislike.

Liked: was very close to the bus station and night market

Disliked: our first room had ants in it but they let us switch rooms. the rate we booked on hostelbookers was 700 TB - the walk-in price for the same was 450 TB. However, the staff didn't really know what was going on and we ended up paying the 450 TB rate instead of the 700 TB (plus the deposit paid to hostelbookers). I guess for that price, the place was worth the value, but not for 700! Also, you don't need an AC room - the fan is sufficient since Chiang Rai is generally cool.

Liked: NOTHING...it was so incompetent that although I had paid a deposit, I decided to cut my losses and go somewhere better organised...I found Orchids Guesthouse which was very nice and much cheaper. The map on the website was not much help so I emailed to ask directions and after 36 hours of waiting still had no response. Once I was in CR I phoned them using the number on the website...no reply. I decided to look for another GH or Hotel but, oddly I walked by the North Hotel. I went in, they had no knowledge of my booking, had no idea how much to charge me or which room to give me. After 15 minutes of hanging around while 3 people worked to try to sort things out I gave up... it was a good move since I found Orchids which was good. I suggest that you drop North Hotel from your list...it is a bad advertisement for your services.

Liked: My room was small but aduquite. Was conveniently located.

Disliked: The free internet service connected fine to my iPad, but not to my laptop. Not sure why.

Liked: Great location, about a 1/2 a block from the bus station, and night market. Even though it's so close to the action, it's very quiet. Bonus points for a vegetarian restaurant just 30m away, and a welcome drink and fruit on arrival.

Disliked: Pillows in Asia, just not that great. Still, slept pretty darn well.

Liked: Quiet and close to nite bizzare and walking street. Close to all transport .. Great location.

Disliked: Not much all pretty good... Standard place but enough for what we wanted. A place to sleep and be close to all.... Perfect for that ...

Liked: Well located next to the night market. Breakfast was good.

Disliked: A bit hard to find initially. Much more expensive than other accommodation in Chiang Rai. We stayed at a another guesthouse for two more nights that was only 400 baht a night for a double with AC.

Liked: The room was nice, we even had a small balcony to ourselves. We had free breakfast every morning that, depending on the day, included toast, eggs and ham. The location was GREAT! We were literally steps away from the night bazaar and "food court" type area.

Disliked: The staff barely spoke english.

Liked: We stranded at Chiang Rai airport late at night w/o taxis being around. (it was New Year's Eve). Hence we called the hotel and the staff was so kind to pick us up at the airport. Our room had a nice terrace and the hotel was very close to the fabulous night market.

Disliked: The room was a bit shabby, there was a strange smell. The bathroom itself was ok but the second morning we didn't have any water...

Liked: Clean room, nice deck area, breakfast was included with our option, the staff was very friendly and attentive and came to pick us up from the airport.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Location in the central business area is a great advantage.

Disliked: I just hope that all the staff can understand and speak English.

Liked: The North is very nice hotel at the center of Chiang Rai.The food is excellent and the special thing is, that at the weekend there is lifemusic. At our stay it had been guitarmusic and Jazz with fluits and saxophone.

Disliked: Ferdinand left no negative feedback.
