It was in a very quiet neighborhood just outside Lausanne, which made it a quiet and relaxing place to stay. It was just 50 meters from the train station to town, and the hotel included free tickets to ride the train…

Located at only 6 km from the city centre of Lausanne, Switzerland, Romanel is the ideal destination for business and leisure alike. Here you can enjoy seasonal gourmet cuisine in a cozy setting near the authentic log fire in winter or on our shady terrace in summer. Enjoy the calming views of the lush green countryside from our terrace.
The restaurant is open from Monday to Friday, for lunch and dinner and also on Saturday for dinner. Together with the seasonal menu, every lunchtime a special dish is prepared for a very competitive price. The restaurant also serves an excellent traditional Swiss cheese fondue.
Breakfast is included in the rates.
Accommodation Information
Quiet single or double rooms, all with bathroom or shower, WC, direct line phones, modem connection, cable TV (40 channels), mini-bar, safe and free WiFi access. Some rooms have a shady balcony.
Location Information
Romanel is only 10 minutes from central Lausanne, worthy of a visit for its cathedral, its old town and the magnificent lake shores. Its Olympic, art and photography museums will delight you with the quality of their exhibitions. As you wander through this ‘green’ town many beautifully flowered parks, where a rest is welcome before climbing back up the hill, Lausanne is on a steep slope! Lausanne is also the departure point for a worthwhile trip to Evian, for a romantic and relaxing trip in an old-fashioned lake-boat. Not to be missed is a visit to Montreux and the Chillon Castle via the Lavaux vineyards (a UNESCO world heritage site) with breathtaking views over the lake to the French Alps. A visit to Gruyère, a small medieval town, and its cheese factories offer a touch of Swiss culinary history – especially known for its fondue. Of course Geneva, the Calvin city, home of the UN and many other international organizations, where famous jeweler’s line streets which have become an interesting cultural melting pot of nationalities.
