Liked: The other travelers at the hostel were nice people. On the first day upon our check in, a very nice lady greeted us and showed us to our rooms. There were lockers available for us to place our things. However, no locks were provided so you have to get your own (the lady was very nice to pass us one though).

Disliked: 1. Extremely LOW hygiene levels - They did not change the bedsheets between a previous check out and a new customer check in. That is extremely gross as god knows who the previous person in that bed was. - The toilet was very creepy. The wall tiles were brown and dirty, the lighting was very dim and the whole toilet looked haunted. In addition, they used blue canvas as shower curtains which made the whole bathtub area even darker than ever. The rug on the toilet floor soaked up all the water and was wet all the time. Very disgusting. - We were very excited that there was a kitchen. But it was disgusting and not maintained. The oven was sticky and the inside contained like charcoal bits. The cupboards were falling apart, the cutlery was dirty and the garbage area was overloaded with rubbish. 2. Extremely rude and unfriendly staff - There was this guy on night shift that was extremely rude and disrespectful. We came back late and was very happy to see that the restaurant area was still lighted up so we thought it was opened. We wanted to stay in Interlaken for another night as there were many things to do, and so we wanted to extend another night. However, when we asked him whether we could, he brushed us off and continued doing his closing by just responding extremely rudely before we could even complete our sentence. He said and gestured "No we are fully booked for the rest of the week. The WHOLE interlaken is booked." Then he just simply walked off. That was extremely terrible service. And we managed to book another hotel (using our iphone 3G network cause there was no wifi in the rooms at all) in the end, so what he said was practically nonsense. - Following which, we were in our living area near our rooms booking our hotel. There were two other guests who were using the same area as us and they were cooking some food. We were not disturbing anyone and the lights were dim. There was no curfew imposed in the description, but that same rude guy came up and opened the main door (to the rooms) very loudly and chased us away saying "this place is closed after 10pm. the kitchen is closed." He pointed to the sign and brushed us off. One of the guests responded nicely saying that they are almost done. The rude guy did not even reply and just left in a hurry. - 30 minutes later he came back again. This time, he just barged in loudly, switched off the lights and opened the windows and said "i told you this area is closed". - I feel that the most important thing that a hotel/hostel needs to provide is decent service. I know we are paying a relatively cheaper price as compared to a hotel, but that does not mean that the service has to be poor. It just has to be of a reasonable average standard. But in this case, it was extremely disrespectful and I doubt this guy should continue to staff the hotel. I think that's why they placed him in night shift. 3. Provided false information - They advertised that they have wifi in the rooms. When we arrived the doors in the rooms there were password codes on the door. But this was a lie. The connectivity was extremely poor and it was equivalent to having no wifi at all. The restaurant/reception area had wifi, but it closes early. 4. Breakfast was NOT AT ALL awesome. We read a lot of reviews saying that breakfast was awesome and so we were pretty excited about it. Do not be deceived. All that was provided was some white bread and spread and minimum stuff. There was no ham even, only pepperoni slices. I would not go back to this place even if it provided free accommodation.

Liked: The view from the property, its right on the lake. Warm, friendly, family-like atmosphere. Owners and their staff was nice.

Disliked: The room was extremely small, bathroom was even smaller. The room itself did not have view at all. It overlooked some rocks dubbed "mountain view". The hotel is in Riggenburg, a 15 min bus ride and you need to carefully plan your entry and exit from town to make it for the last bus.

Liked: When we couldn't find a place to stay in Interlaken, we chose the Seeburg hotel, which is in Ringgenberg - a 5 min. train ride from the Interlaken Ost train station. The staff were very helpful and the room was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was included and it was quite good. The hotel is right on the water and has a very calm, peaceful feeling to it.
