Gernot Wiese thinks…

"The breakfast is fantastic! It is little bit far to the centre, but there is a great park with big hills nearby. Ideal for sports and you have a grat view from the hill to Edinburgh."

Liked: The Breakfast was fantastic, the sheets were soft and clean, never had to wait for a shower, the staff was extremely friendly and I was never not greeted with a smile, while I was there it was quiet as everyone that was staying there was very respectful and it wasn't a crazy party hostel, you were able to sleep soundly through the night. the location was good as it was far enough out of downtown/ busy streets so there was no loud traffic or drunk people keeping you up by yelling on the streets. it was about 20 minute walk maybe 30 minutes to hot spots but the walk is nice also. It was worth every penny I spent.

Disliked: the only thing that sucked about this place was that it was so good I never wanted to leave. it made every other hostel/hotel look like a halfway house.

Liked: The place is beautiful (nice classic buildings mixed with modern ones), very clean and it has everything one may need. Bathrooms are nice and clean. Staff take care of you in details. Since it's close to the hills, you've got a very nice view every morning and every sunset. Self-service laundry really handy! It's very quiet too. Although not close to "city centre" (as written by them), there are buses for 1,30 pounds or taxis for 5 pounds at the front door. Really easy! Super worthy!

Disliked: Couldn't see as many foxes as I wanted too... there were only 3 playing around during the night! ;-) Place is just great!

Liked: It is located at the lovely Hollyrood area, very close to "Arthur's Seat", so it is nice and peaceful. Rooms, bathrooms and the hostel itself outside the rooms are clean. Breakfast is great.

Disliked: I booked room for one and had to share the bathroom, but of course, it is something that they cannot change. I wasn't that bad to share anyway, we didn't have to queue up as there were many bathrooms on the floor.

Liked: The environment is beautiful, right at the foot of Arthur's Seat. The room was very comfortable and clean. The free breakfast is simply amazing. You can eat as much as you want and there are so many things to choose from.

Disliked: If you want a quiet night, take earplugs with you. The internet is pricy.

Liked: University of Edinburgh accommodations were great. Single rooms with a sink in room and common baths (never had to wait for shower and no problem with hot water). Room was clean, sheets clean and clean towels left every day. About 10/15 minute walk to Royal Mile or could take buses (one minute walk at end of street university located on). Front desk staff very friendly and helpful with directions etc. I only ate breakfast on site and was fine. There is also a pub on site but as with the dining facilities can't say much about it since I spent most of my time in town. When I go to the Fringe again I will stay at the University. Was a bargain for the money, safe, clean and close enough downtown Edinburgh on enjoy but just enough away to get a good night sleep,

Disliked: Customer left no negative feedback.

Liked: The staff is very friendly and knowlegeable about the city and always answers my queries with a smile. Also, the breakfast buffet was just ridiculously luxurious for what I paid.

Disliked: The only downside is not being able to meet other travellers, they accomodate guests who are in town for all sorts of functions and conferences, not just travellers.

Liked: The staff were great, and really helpful. The best thing was definitely the huge breakfast buffet. v clean and secure. Great value for money.

Disliked: It was a fair distance from the main centre, but it is an easy walk or £4-5 in a black cab. limited chances to meet people, although I didn't actually go to the on site bar.

Liked: Fast & Furious, everyone appeared to be having a good time meeting, greeting etc. It was very busy but in a positive way, staff helpful, food good, near bus stop into Edinburgh. Great place for walking.

Disliked: Bed was squeaky, first night a bit uncomfortable solved the problem by putting the spare blanket under sheet on top of mattress.

Liked: Breakfast was really good. The bathroom was really clean.

Disliked: I spoke with 2 people from the staff and they were really unkind. The university is not well located, far away from the center. The way back home was unsafe.
