Liked: Cosy and homelike hotel, old english style that made it feel exclusive and luxurious. Friendly staff, good waterpressure in the shower and spacious rooms. Close to the city centre and haymarket station.

Disliked: The breakfast was quite scarce from a Swedish point of view, few greens and a lot of sugary and fatty bread, very sweet youghurt, jams etc

Liked: Great place with best connection to the airport and city centre. Lovely rooms - simple and clean. Staff was limited (seen actually only 1 person), but nevertheless everything went smooth. We actually expected less for this amount of money and was positively surprised. It is possible to borrow (for free) ironing board and iron. Hairdryer, tv with dvd also available in the room.

Liked: Nice, comfortable and spacious room, quiet hotel with restaurants and bars close by. Good location with 15 min walk to the center. Enjoyable stay, if ever back in Edinburgh would stay here again.

Liked: Peaceful venue opposite small leafy square and in lovely classical designed crescent. So quiet but only ten minutes walking distance from Princes Street and centre.. Polite and friendly staff. Lovely, gracious dining room and good breakfast. Elegant old fashioned building.

Disliked: At first given basement bedroom looking out on to dustbins, ladders, old furniture and cigarette ends. We expressed dissatisfaction and after one night were given an upstairs room which was much nicer. There were many small details of upkeep (e.g. slow emptying shower, curtain cord broken, TV ariel lead broken etc) that had gone unnoticed but when we reported that a light bulb had 'popped' it was replaced immediately with charm and efficiency.

Liked: friendly staff and the breakfast was plenty

Disliked: the cleanliness of the room was quite unacceptable: there were dirty spots on the bed sheet, urin on the toilet seat, and old fingernails on the floor beside the bed.

Liked: Large rooms. Clean. Great view. Beautiful breakfast room. Wireless. Within walking distance of Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, Princess Street, and the bus station.

Liked: Large room and friendly staff, however it is a good 20 minute walk to get to the Royal Mile, Castle and many other areas of interest. Also, the hotel probably needs a bit of work, eg the shower nozzle in our room fell down, the lock on the bathroom door kept getting stuck, and the room door was very difficult to shut.

Liked: Our room was cleaned every day with new towels, soaps and fill-up's of coffee, the, coco etc. Very, very good. But then I dont understand that the tablecloths at breakfast were not changes at all during the time, we vere staying there. There were coffee/the spots on many of the tablecloths. Not even the disposable cloths were changed.

Liked: Totally recommend this as a cheap and quality place to stay. It certainly didnt feel like a hostel, more like a hotel. Next time in Edinburgh, I will stay here again.
