10 September 2011 Will would recommend this property

Liked: Nice, cheerful décor and a cool common room lent the hostel a friendly and upbeat air. The staff were friendly, although not all of them spoke good English. A water-cooler was a godsend (since I'd been advised not to drink Russian tapwater) as was the computer with free internet.

Disliked: The bathroom facilities weren't great. The showers were often either lacking in hot water or scalding. I got quite badly bitten by bedbugs on my first night. However, the rest of my group weren't, and I was fine once I'd moved to a different bed, so it seems to have only been that one mattress.

Liked: Good location, friendly staff who speak English very well, clean and safe.

Disliked: A little difficult to find if you don't understand the complexities of Russian addresses.

Liked: location was good

Disliked: no working internet connection, no air con, no free breakfast, most staff dont speak english therefore there is not a tour tesk, only Russians are allowed in the 'games room', no washing facilities and constant cold showers.

Liked: Crazy Duck is definitely a good choice if you consider staying in a Hostel in Saint-Petersburg!The Staff is reaaally friendly and they try to help you whenever you need information on something.The Bar is an awesome place to meet people and I really enjoyed the atmosphere there. Liked: Staff were very friendly and helpful. drinks and food avail at the hostel were very well priced. All in all a great place to stay.They need to sort out the showers though- only 3 for the hostel and one out of order - not so bad as it's low season but would be frustrating in summer. The showers flood the bathroom whenever you have one and all our clothes were drenched.

Liked: A good place to stay, son don't exclude it just now. Some CONS though:- The main problem is hygiene. The floor is all carpet, so it gets soaked from the people leaving the bathroom. They also had cockroaches in the kitchen, although the place was covered in traps. They really need more effort on these subjects;- You pay for the internet in 30mins minimum (price under 1€)And the advantages:- Although not the best location, still is in walking distance of all the main attractions and nightlife;- The staff is great, really helpful, and you can actually have a smart conversation with them about serious local issues.- The TV and homecinema are awsome (please don't stay in the hostel long enough to use them, because the city is just perfect)

Liked: Crazy Duck is great for the atmosphere, its a nice place to come back to after a long day of sight seeing and has a good crowd. Its location however is not ideal, everything being a pretty long walk and accomodation is very cramped.

Liked: simply everything!it felt more then a cuple of friends than a service you have paid for! located directly in the center of the metro-net (a direkt bus to the airport K-3), close to supermarkets, a basar and cashautomats. (and palaces and churches like hermitage and st. isaaks for sure)if I ever come back to St. Petersburg I won`t hesitate to rebook there!

Liked: good location within walking distance of sights and underground.bathroom facilities were very limited though, expect regular waiting for shower or toilet. in general, space in the hostel was limited. nice free pancake breakfast on sat and sun.
