Liked: swimming pool and breakfast on balcony

Disliked: trouble with my original reservation ( see my E mail to hostelbookers customer service) as Manager ( Elmo Lugo) denied he ever got my reservation and deposit via hostelbookers and then tried to charge me a much higher price for rooms I had booked months earlier. As it was too late to find alternate accomodation I did stay one night and paid for that room in full but the manager did not deduct the USD 46.80 deposit that I had paid on my original booking via hostelbookers

Liked: The property itself is fine; we had some problems with reservation though. We made a 10% advance payment with remaining amount to be payed upon arrival. However, few weeks after reservation my credit card was charged by the hotel in the amount of 1 night stay without any notice, which was frustrating. Moreover, when we arrived, the amount to be paid was increased by 15% tax. The manager claimed that the hostelbookers.com do not provide up to date information, which in my opinion does not make any sense. The discussions around these issues and the management attitude somewhat spoiled our experience, although otherwise we like the place and it was the second time we stayed there.

Liked: Dozens of lizards incessantly roam the premises like tiny little guards at the Caribe Playa Beach Resort in Patillas, Puerto Rico. Located in the south of the island, it takes about 45 minutes driving to reach from San Juan LMM international airport. This is an average room at best but with an incredible view. You can literally throw a rock from your room’s door and hit the ocean. Although the beach is moderately rocky and a section of the ocean is roped off due to rip tides, the peaceful atmosphere makes the sparsely populated beach an ideal place for sunbathing. Or if you prefer, you can utilize the property’s on-site pool (or one of the hot tubs). The bar serves hot food and cold drinks, however the prices are slightly higher than surrounding restaurants. As an alternative, you may utlize any of the several BBQ grills located in the short, sandy, stretch from the building to the ocean. Too bad I cannot upload the several photos I took of the building, room, bathroom, pool, and oceanview.

Liked: This is one of the best bargains on the island. No other place for less than $100. It is in a remote area on the beach- which is both good and bad. The staff is very friendly. The amenities in the room I stayed in were a bit sparse (only bed and A/C and private bath), but worth the sacrifice for the price.
