Liked: Great location, reasonable price, nice and clean room, breakfast included, great service...

Disliked: ...noise of the air conditioning systems from neighbouring rooms and surrounding buildings, but not a big issue when the windows are closed.

Disliked: High prices in bar area, internet, and other similar services. The lift stops at 1st floor, reception. Between the street level and reception, only narrow stairs available (and a wheelchair elevation platform).

Liked: * location, situated close to the river, metro, restaurants etc * towels changed everyday * air conditioning in room * fantastic breakfast, you can eat as much as you want, we used to stuff ourselves in the morning and we didn't have to eat until dinner time, saved a lot of money on food :) * a lady at the reception whose name is Liliana - very very helpful bubbly person, she told us where to get nice food, what to see etc.

Disliked: * tiny room, basically a bed and some space around it; we didn't bother that much as we were out all days but if the weather was bad we would probably shoot one another in such a small room * we had problems with our toilet most of the time, it would either leak or it wouldn't flush, minor things but quite annoying

Liked: Top location at a very central, beautiful square: Avenidas Aliados - 5 min walking distance to the old town, river and all the nice old buildings.

Disliked: The breakfast was rather average. Room was quite small and our view from the room wasn't nice at all. Also the room was a bit loud.

Liked: Location is very good! Right in between the railway station Sao Bento, the aliados square, the market and shopping street and the streets with lots of bars for going out.The staff was kind.

Disliked: The airconditioner was leaking, right into my bed. The 'technical guy' solved this by moving my bed. Though, they did offer us another room, but it was not as good as the one with the leaking air conditioning. The breadfast was a bit medium, but good enough for the price we payed.

Liked: I stayed here with three mates for a short break in early February 2010. We booked a twin and a double, and our rooms were situated at the back. The view from the balcony was not particularly pleasant and overlooked the air conditioning ducts, but we were exploring the city and not lounging on the balcony. The ducts were not in use, so I can’t comment on how noisy they might be in the summer. As our rooms were at the back and not overlooking the city square, there was no traffic noise, so we slept very well.The bathroom was clean and towels were provided. There was a small amount of mould around the seals in the shower, but the water was hot, and the shower water pressure was ideal.The location was very central, and the receptionist was very helpful and friendly and recommended a great locals restaurant to us - Abadia.The buffet style continental breakfast was substantial enough – rolls, ham, cheese, yogurt, coffee, juice etc.What more could you want from accommodation for a short break? Central location, a decent nights sleep, good breakfast, and a hot shower.

Liked: The location was great, an easy walk to everything. The young woman at the front desk was very helpful. Rooms were clean, controlling the air conditioner was confusing but everything worked out perfectly.

Liked: main staff were excellent however our boys did have an issue with one certain chap who refused to open the bar for us, not sure whether through lack of english or not but apart from him all others were fantastic and helped arrange extra rooms and trips for the boys (26 chaps on rugby tour) to try and break up the drinking for an hour or two!I did not see hostelbookers promoted at the hotel but was not looking out for it so it may well have been.
