Liked: Lovely building with faded 19th century grandeur. A taste of how hotels used to be and has a slight time warped feel.

Disliked: Walls are wafer thin and in need of real interior decoration. You get the feeling that even a lick of paint and fresh bedding could work wonders for the place. However the place is basically musky and noisy with a lack of modern facilities. Good stop for one night as the beds are rock hard and the local feral dogs howling tend to make you want to move on.

Liked: A dreamlike atmosphere. Beautiful, charming building. Sober furniture, respecting the moorish ambiance. A lovely place to stay, if you want to get the feeling of Alentejo. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast for a two-star hotel.

Disliked: The only disadvantage is really the location - a bit off the main roads. And the heat, in the summer. The swimming pool is not really worth that name, but it's large enough for freshening up in the blazing heat.
