Moana Lodge is neither a guest-house nor a hostel nor a hotel. We'd like it to be your home away from home, close enough to the City but closer to the sea. Bus to Mana, train to Plimmerton.

Moana Lodge is ideal if you're looking for a great place to rest and relax but convenient if you want to visit the vibrant Capital City by car or commuter train which goes straight into the stadium for all the big sports events.

Locally there are walks, swimming, sailing, kayaking, cycling, fishing, golf and diving. It's a short stroll along the beach front to great cafes, the boating club bistro and bar, village shops, the commuter railway station and it's just 8 kms drive to our new Lighthouse cinema.
With fully made up beds, unbeatable views, a warm ambience, cosy winter fire and many homely touches, this self catering accommodation is hard to beat.
If you have a car, van or bike there is plenty of parking next to the Lodge. The commuter train runs regularly to Plimmerton till late and the Intercity Bus request stop is at Mana. We are happy to pick you up whenever possible if we know when you will arrive but contact us before you book as pick ups are not always possible or guaranteed.
Moana Lodge is also a great stopover for Inter island and Bluebridge ferries (20 minutes by car) as well as trips to Wellington(20 mins), Wairarapa (1 hr), Kapiti Coast(20mins), Hutt Valley (20 mins) and Porirua (10 mins).

Arrivals after 9.00pm MUST be discussed prior to making a booking with the hostel or bookings will not be accepted. It will often not be possible to accept bookings after 9.00pm .
Cancellation Policy
72 hours cancellation is required prior to the date of arrival to avoid 1 night's penalty payment.Bookings for special events or public holidays are non cancellable once made.

Accommodation Information

All room types are available from singles to twins, doubles, sea view rooms, family rooms and share rooms. All high quality beds are made up with duvets, sheets, towels and in winter, electric blankets. There are no bunks. Many rooms have wardrobes and all have bedside cabinets and lights. Rooms are attractively decorated and in-room TV's are available on request.

There is a large sea-facing lounge just a few metres from the beach with comfortable suites, warm fire, DVD nights in winter and sound system. The separate dining room has a special candle-lit ambience. All showers and toilets are modern and private to use but not ensuite. The patio garden has outdoor BBQ and open fire for those balmy summer nights.
If travelling north or south there is a comprehensive Internet and Information centre to help you within the hostel.

Location Information

There are many extra good eateries and cafes in the village and also the option to have a drink at the Boating Club across the road. The boutique cinema "The Lighthouse" is 6 kms (kilometres) away. People enjoy water activities here like kayaking, sailing, swimming and diving. It’s a popular spot for windsurfing and fishing as well as coastal walks.
The supermarket is 1.3kms away but there is a great dairy in the Village as well. Add to this that we are just 20 mins (minutes) by car from the Capital City and you have the best of all worlds.
