Liked: Location is great, but thats all really.

Disliked: We had a 4 person room and only two people could stand at one time....the room was not even small, it was miniscule. You can stay somewhere fantastic for the same price of staying at the Marnix, which is far from fantastic!

Liked: the staff were very accomodating. We had an ill friend and they let us stay in the room right up until the cab came to take us to the airport

Liked: my first amsterdam holiday was very fantastic experince for me. Marnix hostel is cheap and not dirty.Location is very good ,only 1 min for leidseplein and only 10 min for central station and redlight district , ı love there

Liked: Good location, close to shops and coffee shops and restaurants but not so close you can hear them

Disliked: Stairs were horrendous to bring a suitcase or bag up. Beds were tiny - I'm a slim 5'6 woman and I was scared of rolling over and falling off. Also no ladder to get to top bunk, hope you're a good climber! Bathrooms smelled terrible and were arranged so that it's impossible to take a shower without soaking the whole room and toilet.

Liked: relatively close to interesting places, restaurants, bars and shops. nice staff, plenty of space (room G1 building 358) we were four in a 6 bed room, so that was nice.

Disliked: Couldn't stand the smell of the bathroom.Noisy, paper-thin walls. Stains on the walls, linen, floor. Bugs all over the place.

Liked: Great location, right next to the bustling Leidseplein.

Disliked: Receptionists were rude. At least two out of the four that I interacted with seemed bent on being rude. First, initially refused to give us two keys, even though we booked two beds. Secondly, our keycards were deactivated four times in 2 nights, and I was accused of giving the receptionist the wrong room number, with that causing one of the deactivations. My girlfriend was locked out at 5 a.m. during one of the deactivations, and had to go to the reception, which requires walking outside for a few meters. But, there was nobody at the reception, even though the hostel is supposed to be open 24 hrs. When asked about this the next day the receptionist said there was no way that that happened, and that most likely the receptionist was off making breakfast. No soap in the bathrooms, which smell very bad. Broken vending machines. Sticky floors. Could go on and on, but in summary this place was astoundingly bad.

Liked: It's close from the Bohemia . Has liquid soup into the bath.

Disliked: Many stairs and with out wi- fi into the rooms. With out telephone... With out snak machines...

Liked: near to the Leidseplein. staff helps you when you need.

Disliked: I cannot say it is so clean because when you have shower bathroom becomes a pool :) I think this hostel is expensive to stay but it may be because of the expensiveness of Amsterdam. It is hard to meet people because there is no common room but maybe you can meet people when you are having your breakfast if you are early-bird unlike me :p

Liked: The location is fantastic - right next to Leidseplein which has a great nightlife. The rooms are nice and spacious enough. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Disliked: It wasn't the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed at but, that wasn't too much of a problem.

Liked: Good value for money. Room was basic but perfectly fine.

Disliked: Shared toilet was heavily stained. There were some mice.

Liked: It's a typical dutch building with very steep stairs reaching up four floors. It had a nice amount of character. The staff were very friendly and helpful (we arrived early so they got our room cleaned first so we could settle in asap!) and the location was pretty good, about a 20-30min walk to the red light district. Close, but not close enough to be noisy. The beds were comfy too.

Disliked: While I liked the stairs, they are a pain when you get back stoned at 2am and have to climb to the top floor. There isn't a lift. Also the breakfast was expensive. We didn't try it but it didn't look like much for 5 euros- might as well go to the Burger King in Leidsplein...

Liked: The location was awesome. Really close to Vondelpark and the Museumplein.

Disliked: Really small room and it wasn't cheap, but it was Amsterdam on a weekend and in the summer.

Liked: Forget the gents name at the front desk, but he was very helpful in giving me Amsterdam info on where to park the car and how to use the rail car system. We had a private room which was huge and clean.

Disliked: One of the bathrooms had no plumbing for the sink, needed to have 2 keys for the 2 of us which we could not aquire.

Liked: The stairs to go up to the room was terrible! But theres nothing tehy can do about it.

Disliked: they did not fill in the papertowels in the bathroom. Only the toilet seat was clean, walls etc were in a terrible shape! Also in the room. One of our towels were dirty

Liked: The location is excellent

Disliked: It was very dirty, lots of stains on all the blankets and sheets and we even had mice in our room while we were gone.

Liked: It was a secure building ( you had to have a key to enter the building and your room). The location was also prime in Leidseplein. Very close to metro and to a lot of fun sights (also pubs and restaurants).

Disliked: It wasn't very clean. Linen wasn't changed when people left. A new person came into our room and the linen still hadn't been changed from the last guest. It was expensive as well. No included breaksfast and wi-fi was expensive as well (but there's a place 2 blocks down that has free internet for you to use).

Liked: this hostel was great. it was way more hotel than hostel. i was staying in a room with one other person, and it was fantastic. Clean, comfortable beds, well sized rooms, not too loud because its away from the main roads, our own private bathroom which was clean as well. out of the 2 hostels i stayed at in amsterdam, this one was better value for your money, and was a more comfortable stay.

Disliked: other than carrying my suitcase up the stairs, nothing. Hostel and staff were great, would highly recommend it, and would definatly stay again.
