Liked: Free Wifi throughout the hotel. Basic room but had a shared balcony. In a good central location. Overall it was good value for money.

Disliked: Lots of stairs if you are on either the 4th or 5th floor. A fair bit of noise at night until midnight but nothing that earplugs didn't block out.

Liked: Staff are very helpful, and very understanding. Food is good, room very big and clean (we had an ensuite) Fan was very much needed as its pretty hot there right now. internet cafe just downstairs as we couldnt log onto hotels network but that was fine

Liked: Central location in Thamel. A garden restaurant where the food was fine. Nice clean rooms and beds, small but OK bathrooms in single. There are some nice large doubles with sofas and table in the room for relaxing. Staff are friendly and helpful and will hold luggage for you free-of-charge. Not exceptional but pleasant budget place. Would stay there again

Disliked: There a new big hotel behind now and the noise from the restaurant there can be intrusive in rear rooms. No generator and frequent power cuts in the evenings at the moment can be a pain

Liked: Cheap and good value for money, very friendly staff, good location, resaurant does good food, garden is a lovely touch in busy Thamel. Has free wifi. Would recommend.

Disliked: No generator so when the power goes off (and it frequently does in Thamel) you are sat in the dark - bring the head-torches! We had a cheap room so were next to the road at night, some dog barking and noisy shutters - bring your earplugs.

Liked: It is very cheap. A single room for $6 is better than you'll find in a lot of places, even in SE Asia.

Disliked: If you're staying here, you should know that the power is constantly out. You may think that "power outages" means going without electricity for 20-30 minutes or maybe an hour. Wrong. Basically, there is never any electricity except for a few random hours of the day and a few more at night. The electricity seemed to work consistently between 1-9am, precisely when most people are sleeping and wouldn't even need it. It almost never worked during the critical evening hours. Once in awhile it would come on during the afternoon, but not on most days. There are many hotels in Kathmandu that suffer from the same problem, but Florid really has it bad. The water tanks are on the roof, so they are warmed by the sun. This means that you can take a hot shower in the afternoon with no problem. However, showers in the morning or at night will be lukewarm at best.

Disliked: You'd be crazy to complain about anything at this price.

Liked: the owner and staff were more than helpful and welcoming i booked a further 3 nights stay on my return to ktm 10 days later and was greeted like a long lost friend! also the food was excellent served in the remarkably peacful and pleasant courtyard garden

Disliked: i would have to nit pick to find fault in a hotel in this price range just the normal prob in thamel of hotel locking down a bit early but nothing a bit of door rapping didnt solve!

Liked: Well, we arrived at the Hostel shortly after arriving in Kathmandu. We were greeted and relieved to know that they were expecting us. Its in the centre of Thamel (the main tourist area) and has many shops and other hostels around it. It is set just off the main street so you can still get a good nights sleep. The staff were especially friendly and helpful giving directions, arranging meetings with tour guides and opening the door latenight when we came back from sightseeing the bars of Thamel!! It was very reasonably priced and the food was cheap and of good quality. Nepal definitely deserves and second visit and I will spend it at Hotel Florid Nepal.

Disliked: I am struggling to think of the disadvantages, one I would say is that there wasn't hot water 24/7, but was okay in the mornings and some evenings.

Liked: The staff! I used the hotel as a base when I was not trekking or doing other activities such as kayaking, and everyone there always looked after me well. There were no problems with looking after my luggage, and every time I came back I was greeted by name and a friendly smile. The rooms are very clean, and the location fantastic!
