Disliked: Everything was bad with this place. It is a dirty place! Bed bugs are an issue....please don't stay here. the mattresses with bed bugs are sitting at the hallway. maybe this is the way they clean them, but it is horrible. I stayed 1 night because there was no other place available. well, there was Traders Hotel but it was out of my budget. the next day I looked for another place and found Clover Hotel, it was a bit pricey but worth it. The breakfast is a health hazard. the staff sets the tables at night and in the morning I realized that the butter and jam have been sitting out all night. the butter is border line green in color. There is no internet. I am a tolerable person when it comes to certain hotel discomforts, this one broke me!

Liked: Breakfast is usually served from 7am, but I had to leave for an early morning flight. The staff opened breakfast early for me at 5:30. The bed was also comfortable.

Liked: Free pick-up or drop-off at airport

Disliked: The staff was very unfriendly. During our 2 nights there, we haven't heard them say "good morning", "hello" or "mingalabar" to any of the guests. They don't smile, don't talk and just throw you the fried eggs on the table. It was certainly the worst breakfast in all Myanmar and the worst guesthouse we ever stayed in Southeast Asia!

Liked: The staff were amazing and so helpful with any enquiry from bus and plane tickets, to organising taxis and recommending restaurants. Such a delight.

Disliked: Some rooms had no windows so were a little dark however you don't go there to hang out in the room.

Liked: Good places are hard to find in Yangon. The Ocean Pearl is safe and friendly and clean not a bad choice at all. The money exchange rate is fair and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The stairs are steep and the rooms are a bit small - but nothing too terrible.

Liked: Airport pick up service, and that the rooms were brightly lit.

Disliked: Bed bugs, hundreds of them and the fact that they did not dispose of the mattresses as promised. From online reviews I can see that people who had the same room after us, was also reporting bed bugs!!!!! They have one rate on their own website, one rate with hostelbookers and when we want to stay one more night on our way out of Myanmar, they quoted yet another rate which is higher. They promised to serve a simple breakfast since we had to catch an early flight, comes morning they wanted to get away with not even giving us a few bananas, not to say coffee or anything else to eat and drink.

Liked: Nice to have airport pick-up as well as airport drop off for Air Asia flights. Convenient location, some rooms are upstairs and quiet, the ones downstairs aren't. Quite clean. Helpful staff.

Disliked: Bit musty and smells damp, but this is partially inevitable in the tropics. Rooms downstairs are noisy due to being located near the entry as well as the breakfast area.

Liked: Reception staff were very helpful about booking transport and providing advice about where to go.

Disliked: We made a change to the reservation, following the instructions to contact the hostel directly. At the end if our stay, we were told the deposit we initially paid to hostelbookers.com would not be taken into account because of the change. This was an inconvenience. Thankfully, after a difficult conversation, the deposit was taken into account. Instructions on changes and consequences must be clear.

Liked: Great location, quiet environment, free airport pickup & breakfast, taxi services easily available and reasonably cheap to places like Sule and Golden Pagodas, China Town. Hotel was able to sell bus tickets for our group to Bagan (150,000kyat), etc and help us to book hostel in Bagan.

Liked: Mr Than, the man in charge was extremely helpful, the rooms are serviced every day with clean towels and cleaned, and the breakfast is not big but good with coffee or tea, toast and fried egg. Some rooms have windows looking out onto a brick wall but this has the advantage of making them quiet. The rooms with windows and balconies facing the street are nicer but can be noisy. The location is only 5 or 10 minutes walk from the Central Market which is the centre of town. There is a shortage of hotels, hostels and guest houses in Myanmar. This means that, inevitably, prices are higher than in other S.E. Asian countries. This will change as the country gets itself geared up for mass tourism. But for Myanmar, this hotel is reasonably priced.
