Liked: The roof terrace and mint tea where amazing. The staff (not the owner).

Disliked: Our room was damp and dingy. The area is "Shady" at best. After being hassled and groped by locals on the way to Djemaa el Fna we decided to check out early. The owner stated that we would have to pay for the 3 nights we had booked for, the owner threatened to take our passports to the police and said that this was Hostelbookers policy. We begrudgingly paid the money and left for a better hostel across town. The other people that were staying there that experianced the same treatment from the locals were charmed by the owner into staying at the Rhiad. Personally, he couldn't have paid us to stay there.

Liked: The rooms are well appointed, with en-suite shower in some and shower/toilet in one.

Disliked: It is a small property and thus one can be alone much of the time; this can be a benefit of course!

Liked: Couldn't have asked for more! Beautiful traditional riad with the most friendly and helpful staff. Thierry (the riad owner) was always happy to give advice and even helped organise things to do. Definitely would recommend Riad Ghallia!

Liked: The atmosphere of real Morocco. This is the oasis of peace while coming back from very loud city center. One can really feel a great relief with a sip of mint tea on a terrace.

Liked: The hostel is very nice inside, our room was up on the roof and had great views, but it is VERY HARD TO FIND!! they gave us a hand-drawn map but it wasn't really helpful at all. we had to follow the little teenage boys to find it every time...and tip them. its pretty far from the main square, but was pretty good deal for a private room.

Liked: Place was an okay deal for the price. an average Riad...However, Thierry was very helpful with providing directions about how to get arond the souks and the Place El Fna.

Liked: The traditional riad and decor was lovely. such a haven from the busy streets of Marrakech. the staff were all very friendly, although the manager was not there when we arrived, when we did meet him he was extremely helpful eg booking us a Hammam, giving maps/directions and helping me when i left my sleeping bag in the back of a taxi. The rooms were gorgeous and all unique in style and the breakfast up on the balcony (bread,pancakes, cake, coffee,orange juice) was lovely and the timing of breakfast flexible if you were leaving early for the day. only difficulty is it is away from the main medina (20 min walk) which is good that you are in the more 'locals' area, but at night would recommend a taxi (£4-5) as th streets are dark and winding. loved it there- would go again.

Liked: Excellent place to stay in the heart of the medina in Marrakesh. The owner Thierry goes out of his way to make sure you have the best stay possible and is a wealth of knowledge about things to do in the city and rest of the country.

Liked: It is so cute! Every room is beautifully decorated. The staff members were really helpful and basically drew out a map for us to help us find out way around, gave us tips and recommendations on places to each and things to do, and was just all around very friendly. The breakfast was also very tasty :)

Liked: Very helpful and friendly staff, nice breakfast, and very pretty decoration in the rooms and in the whole house. It is not far from Djeema-al-Fna (the main square), but getting there at night can be quite tricky. The map provided by the Riad was nevertheless very helpful.

Liked: Thierry, the manager, is absolutely brilliant. He is a mine of useful information and always ready to chat and help out with any enquiries etc. The other staff are also very good but it helps if you can speak French! The location is slightly North East in the medina in an area largely populated by locals so you get a taste of real Marrakech life rather than the sanitised version you may get elsewhere. Highly recommend the food at Riad Ghallia - the daily menu is 15 Euros and is usually 4 delicious courses - excellent value for money. As the Riad also sells alcohol you are not allowed to bring your own - be prepared to pay restaurant prices for any drinks. This is a really brilliant Riad and I promise you will enjoy your stay here!
