Liked: If you are the kind of person who likes to be served cocktails while you lay by the pool, be in the thick of the action (bars, restaurants etc) and be able to eat every meal at the hotel, arrange all your activities through the hotel or even get directions from hotel staff to the nearest supermarket........ This hotel is not for you. If you like doing your own thing, getting lost, buying a 6 pack from the shop yourself to drink by the pool and eating anywhere but your hotel.... You will probably quite like it here. All the rooms on hostel bookers actually have an ocean view and pool view. (When you get there, they have other rooms for US$35 available with no view, but I did not see what standard they were). The continental breakfast was first in best dressed and not re-stocked. It consisted of cereals, milk, bread, peanut butter, jam, butter, fresh fruit and juices, tea and coffee. No staff monitored how much or how many time you ate, or if you took it to eat by the pool/ in your room.. so people were going back for 4th helpings. The hotel was in a very quiet location, at least 5 mins walk to restaurants, bars and shops, which made for good sleeping conditions. It was only 5 minutes walk to the gorgeous Playa Norte. There was free wifi in the lobby (but not in the rooms). The rooms are older style, but clean and have all the basics. Overall the hotel was great for us, but had some quirks that some people may dislike.

Disliked: The lobby staff were odd, not very helpful and overly assertive bordering on agressive at times. As they spent the whole time in the lobby, they were easily avoided, providing you didn't use the internet. The bar tender by the pool was only there 1 afternoon of our 4 days there. We stayed in the Private double room. This had 2 'double' beds (which would really struggle to fit 2 people in each), a wardorobe and TV cabinet, TV and bar fridge. There was very little space for bags in the room. You had to sign a blank credit card authorisation slip upon arrival (which I thought was odd and unsafe) if you refused, you had to provide a US$200 cash deposit on the spot "in case you lost a key". The beach at the front of the hotel is too dangerous to swim at and the day before we arrived a man drowned there. Apologies for the long winded review, but there were no others at the time of writing.
