It was initially built to be used as army barracks, but then became one of the first hotels in Campeche City, and remained as such for almost a century. It was initially built to be used as army barracks, but then became one of the first hotels in Campeche City, and remained as such for almost a century.

In 2004, its new owners started remodeling it completely, although they respected the original architecture, floors, ceilings, patio, hallways and colonial decoration, without neglecting modern amenities such as wireless internet, direct dial telephone, satellite TV, swimming pool and air conditioning, among others.

Our hotel is located in the historic center of Campeche City (declared World Heritage Site in 1999 by UNESCO), a few steps from the sea. It is surrounded by historic buildings, colonial houses, churches, forts and walls, souvenir stores, museums, convention center, bars and restaurants.

The rooms are decorated with colonial style; they have original tile floors, high ceilings with wood beams, cedar furniture and completely new bathrooms.

What to do in Campeche?

The best way to explore Campeche City and its historic center is on foot, because everything is within a short walking distance.

You can, for example, visit “House number 6”, to get a glimpse of how the wealthy people used to live. Other places not to miss are the Cathedral, the Main Square, the Historic Center, and even the Pier.

Out of Campeche City, the following places are worth visiting: the archaeological sites of Calakmul and Edzna, the caves of Xtacumbilxunaan, the beaches of Champoton and nearby villages full of tradition and culture, but for all of them, a car is necessary.
