Liked: This was a nice, if somewhat dated, hotel in a perfect location for exploring Georgetown. The staff are incredibly helpful and gave us maps, directions and bus info for everywhere we wanted to go. Also organised boat tickets to Langkawi and taxi to the ferry port. Breakfast every morning (although we were too lazy to get up for it!), close to Red Garden night food market and bus stops. Would definitely recommend.

Liked: Friendly helpful staff. Large room with daily room service. Free wifi that worked well. Good breakfast on roof top.Good location to explore on foot or take bus.

Disliked: Old linen and towels(but they were clean and changed daily.)

Liked: The staff were far more helpful than anywhere else we stayed in Malaysia and went out of their way to assist us to enjoy Penang. Their local knowledge was invaluableand saved us money. The roof terrace is great. The breakfast was limited but good. The room was small but quite adequate.

Disliked: For the price you'd need to be a very fussy nit picker to find much to complain about at the Mingood.

Liked: Convenient and quiet location. Large room. Nice rooftop area for free breakfast. Problem with payment sorted out quickly and amicably.

Disliked: Make sure you are given a receipt for your payment.

Liked: wifi is good. :) free breakfast. super accomodating staff. they always smiling at you. change linen and towels everyday. 10-15 mins walking distance to komtar building, hawker center jalan penang, and upper penang.

Liked: A great price for a well located, clean, large, comfortable room. While not shiny and new, the rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, bathroom and room of a great size! It was nice to have a couple of chairs in the room so we weren't always sitting on the beds. In room safe, fridge and TV make for extra value. An added bonus is that a simple breakfast is included in the rooftop dining room / rooftop garden. The hotel is an easy walk to Georgetown's Heritage area, to the bars along Chulia St, and to plenty of tasty food! Less than 10 minutes walk to Komtar for shopping and to catch a bus to pretty much anywhere on the island (though many of the buses can be caught on Jalan Penang mere minutes from the hotel).

Disliked: The towels have seen better days. That said they are clean and get you dry so who can complain.

Liked: Handy but quiet location Quite friendly staff Old fashioned but clean and comfortable and with 3star facilities Impressive roof top breakfast room with modest but adequate basic free breakfast to which additions can be ordered at a modest cost If backpacker couples wish a quiet break from the frenetic friendly youthfulness 0f your average backpackers hostelry this is the place for a few days at a decent price (at least in the low season).

Disliked: How about a TV remote in every room and avoid the irritating chase for one almost every time I check in. A deposit for safe return of same would surely stop light fingered guests - which they give as an excuse for shortage of these units.Most hotels do a room check before allowing a guest to depart. How about free access to their foyer library - even if they demand a deposit to ensure return of books. Tv channel choices - 1 may be 2 English Movies ; 5 channels showing same BBC news: 2 or 3 showing same sports channel; a small selection of local in malay, chinese, indian I think! Wont worry night owls but I'm ready for bed by 9pm. (OK another Senior!). Minor complaints which could be very easily fixed.

Liked: Staff extremely helful and welcoming. The hostel is well located, we only have to straight down a street to reach the historical centre.

Disliked: Not really a good value for money. The atmosphere is not that good, it's not isolated in the rooms, it's also extremely noisy. It's not so clean in the rooms.

Liked: The front desk staff, cleaning staff, management and the owner was extremely helpful, inviting and friendly. Every request was met and catered for no matter how minor or big. Wifi can be accessed from the entire hotel. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and usable. Mingood is much more better than Tune Hotel in service, facilities and value which is an 8 minute walk away.

Disliked: The rooms were are very big in size and spacious, but the overall decor was very out-dated and made the rooms very dark.

Liked: Helpful staff when trying to change rooms late in the evening. Location is nice, just a little outside of city center.

Disliked: First room's aircon did not work. Saw 3 more rooms, aircon worked but was too weak for the rooms. It took almost a night to cool down the room to sleeping temperature (maybe 22 degree Celsius). Breakfast was just toast, butter, jam, peanut butter, cornflakes and coffee/tea as much as you want. All kinds of eggs and everything else would cost extra. The hotel has recently been painted, but this is not enough to describe it as done on hostelbookers. Everything else but the wall paint is still in a run-down condition (bathroom, bathtub, carpet, furniture). The worst thing is that we requested a non-smoking room but in the end every of their rooms is a smoking room, smokers are invited to smoking by an ashtray in the room. The smell of cold smoke was awful in every room we saw.
